I am trying to find something to satisfy my craving for savory/salty cooked foods...here's the issue though...
I have tried many times to make a raw savory salad or pasta using zucchini/cucumber noodles with a raw tomato or pesto sauce, however, I just plain don't enjoy it at this point. I usually love the sauce I make, but don't enjoy the zucchini/cucumber noodles, and as a result I can't eat enough of the dish to feel that my savory craving is satisfied.
So this is what brings me to sweet peas (frozen...due to lack of availability for freah), steamed sweet potatoes/squash, and avocados. I feel like these three foods could really work to satisfy my savory craving. I want to pick one of these food items to try, so if I need to drop it from my diet I won't have to drop 3 different foods, but rather just one.
Does anyone have any advice on which one of these food would be best to eat for my savory cravings...should I eat 1/2 an avocado everyday even though it is so high in fat just to stay 100% raw, or would it be better to eat steamed sweet potatoes or defrosted frozen sweet peas instead to keep my days low fat?
Is it likely that I won't reap the benefits of HCRV if I eat one steamed potato or spaghetti squash or 1lb of defrosted frozen sweet peas each day? I don't want this one aspect of my diet to prohibit me from gaining optimal health.
I would greatly appreciate your thoughts and advice on this issue!

Permalink Reply by Jessica on June 11, 2012 at 1:43pm Thanks for sharing Janna, would you be able to tell me why you would recommend to go for the defrosted frozen organic sweet peas? Is that just a personal taste preference or is there another reason why you would go for the peas over the other food items I listed?

Permalink Reply by Jessica on June 11, 2012 at 2:44pm I think I will try the peas and maybe sweet potatoes and see how that goes. I am just worried I am going to get really comfortable with eating these non-raw foods daily and have a hard time dropping them.

Permalink Reply by Jessica on June 11, 2012 at 1:52pm From what I have read here on 30BAD they are blanched or boiled before being frozen. If I could find raw sweet peas I would for sure go for them, but I can't find them in any of the grocery stores in my area.
Permalink Reply by TheBananaGirl on June 12, 2012 at 10:50am After our 1 week trial of the high carb cooked vegan forum we have decided to move any discussions about cooked food to a specialised group. It was going well however we can see the potential for the cooked food discussions to overrun the home page and we want to keep the forum on the HC raw vegan track as much as possible. All discussions about cooked food will now be closed and a note added about them being moved to the group. Feel free to discuss high carb cooked vegan foods/meals there.
Thanks for working with us!
