I'm a uni student as well (in Eastern Canada) and the cost is a challenge for me too. One small tip: I buy the packed pitted dates and soak them, which (for me at least) is far cheaper than trying to obtain large quantities of fresh dates. It's not ideal, but it's better than no dates at all!
Shields date garden sells dates for 3.33 a pound (That includes shipping) You can get them online
Thanks, I will check that out!
another tip is to make friends at farmer markets and organic stores, a lot of them donate or throw away fruits that begin to spoil, but most of the times are still perfectly fine to eat, they just no longer have a shelf life.
Also check in local churches if any of them get produce donations and resell to the community. We have a church close by, actually quiet a few, that does that, I have been getting strawberries $6 for 40 pints.. I can't look at them anymore though, don't care if they are free .. lol .. I had enough! But they get more donations from local grocery stores daily, it usually isn't organic, but when you get em that low cost you can at least afford to get organic greens. Thats what I do ..
end of the day at farmers markets and I always get great last minute deals, also maybe costco or something?
I will also like to know in Adelaide whereto buy .
