30 Bananas a Day!

Ramadan will start tonight. Which means no food or drink during daylight hours. My plan is to start with juice (citrus or watermelon) in the early morning (before 3.30am in Seatlle). I don't want to wake up my neighbors, so I was thinking of juicing at 11pm and storing it in the fridge in mason jars and consume it around 3 am. Is that okay? Normally I juice and drink it right away. Any other tips or ideas for a fruity Rawmadan are welcomed:) Happy Ramadan to all that celebrate it.

I think it's no problem and would also suggest dateorade and possibly soaking the dates the night before. Happy Ramadan :)

@Myra,

Citrus stored in a closed container might keep well, although it might need a good shaking at the time of drinking.  I am not sure about the water melon though.  Never juiced one myself:D

Some people have had good results storing datorade for a few hours and will consume it at work for lunch.  I am not sure if the bananas will oxidize or not, but even if they do, as long as they are not fermented, it might be ok.

Another idea might be to just cut the watermelon into big bite sized pieces before sleeping and eating it verses juices and smoothies.

If all else fails, ripe bananas are the easiest thing to eat at that time fresh from the peel.  No bleary eyed prepping:D

Peace, PK

I will only store juices for suhoor. After the juice I'll eat mainly bananas. For Iftar I'll start with a Datorade, followed by any fruit or veg that I desire. I won't store any smoothies. I did that once with green smoothies. I haven't had a green smoothie since then. It really grossed me out. I want to keep this Rawmadan very fruity, but I'll take it day by day. Otherwise I set myself up for failure. I speak from experience;)
I stored my watermelon juice in mason jars in the fridge for 4 hours. It was okay, but I could taste it was a little different. I won't do it again. I juiced 1/2 a watermelon it filled me up so much that I couldn't eat as many bananas as I wanted. Tomorrow I'll do citrus juice, but in a smaller quantity, so I can eat more bananas afterwards.

@Myra,

Thanks for sharing with us your experiences.  I was a bit curious about the water melon.

Peace, PK
