Aimee loves to dance and that's no croc! How was the class?
Have family visting as I noted, so not quite as active as usual, but still keeping busy with walking, a bit of biking, some pool antics, a touch of yoga, and CC and pullups the past couple days, as well as a bunch of stair jumps.
Oh man, it was GREAT! I almost threw up two times because I foolishly ate a big avocado salad an hour before class. Plus, it's a very intense class & I found myself getting rather spent after really fast dance moves/intervals. I'm out of shape/fitness! But with that aside, :) I really liked the dance center, the instructor, the moves & the music. I will definitely be going back! I'm so happy that I found it. And it's only a 15 - 20 minute walk from my apartment.
Today I try a new class (at the same dance center) called Congocize. I think it is also an African cardio dance class like Zumba. It starts in an hour, so I'll be leaving soon.... later Gators! ;D) Xx!
Wow! That class was SO GOOD! I think it was the best class I have ever taken. Ever.
(And this time, I only had fruit before the class. So that helped as well. -phew.)
The class covered everything. It was so well-rounded ...& so much fun!
I definitely think I found my workout spot for the rest of the year. It's going to be this dance center. No doubt about it.
Great to hear! I know you've enjoyed various dance styles over the years, but have never extolled one quite this much. Muss be good :)
How's your head (and neck, was it?) and paw feeling, Sita?
30 min Adi backbends and balance yoga +
about 15 more min split stretching
55min group Insanity Max Plyo. Sweet suffering plain and simple.
Bonus for the day: my entire visiting family watched Forks Over Knives together! Who knows where it will lead, but all journeys must start with the first step right?
This is one pointing in the right direction for sure.
Still have to get FoK, but I have 3x The Rave Diet with dvd's for family/friends to share once they're ready :) Great that they're interested WL!
Nice croc :) is making a mess there...but grape droppings are not bad.
;D) That was funny, Sita. I had to scroll up to the photo to see what you were referring to. He is a bit of a messy one, isn't he? It's a good picture & clever sculpture.
That's wonderful Aimée! Dancing is so great, it was the love of my life :) Years ago I really could dance all night, as long as there was music. Probably I still can. I'm so happy for you you've found this, I know how it feels! Especially with African music, then it even feels like I have some roots there :)
Thanks for asking WL, my neck is still a bit painful in back bends, it used to hurt even with swallowing, but that's practically gone now. Head and foot are okay :) Normally I don't have injuries that often, now I'm more aware of being grateful for your body after yoga class. I'm so much stronger than a few years ago, that's for sure.
How are the splits going with you? I'm still impressed with your bound King pigeon! I remember could do it sometimes, but at other times it just doesn't happen.
There was no access to the internet for several days, just had it fixed. Despite the busy days I did some workouts:
Mo: 8 pieces of Qigong + 24-forms taichi (made a headache disappear, that was miraculous)
25 min Surya Morning Flow yoga class
Tue: 23 min Twist your Way to Bliss yoga class
Wed 29 min Yoga for the travel warrior
Have a great day all!!
Hi WL & Sita:
Ya, I'm really happy I found a good exercise option that inspires me & that is affordable. For the last year I have been in such a funk. (Plus the knee injury made it worse.) In general, I really didn't have a desire to get out & be active. I was in such a reflective hermit-like state. I just couldn't shake out of it. And all the exercise options I had really were not exciting me at all. I just wasn't that interested -- but despite the mental resistance, doing the best I could to move a little daily.
These dance classes I am taking are only $10 each for the whole summer. They have a summer special happening. Most dance & yoga classes in NYC are $18 - 20 dollars per class! Way too much to pay on a regular basis. Especially if I need help to move & sweat daily. But this new place I found is; affordable for me (if I reduce the amount I spend on food), close by my home, & I really like the classes/instructors. So it's a win win this summer. :)
Hi Beloved Bold Brave Beings! ;D)
Today is an easy day. I spent some time on the inversion board & I did about 30 minutes of stretching & self massage (so wonderful! I really dug into my feet & calves, & showed them some love). I played this video while I did my exercise session today. (It's best to listen with headphones.)
Hi Amanda. :) Fantastic list! Excellent!
Welcome in, Amanda. Nice full body workout there.
Luv, good to see you finally thrilled about something worthy enough to lighten your blues. But you're right, you may not have been inspired for some time, but you never stopped moving. And that's the key!
Sita, I was inspired to work consistently toward the splits again by the vid below. I'd love to have his full DVD, but $50 makes me gulp. I'll just do my best with his YT tips for a while. And I know that's really the main point--that I pursue it consistently, indeed preferably daily. Only a matter of time then.
1.5-2 mi bare walking/running
pull program: 9,2pulls/6chins/6,2neutral/6chins/3wide
splitting and extra hip stretching
arvo: much walking around during my first visit to a massive IKEA store
eve: group Insanity Max Cardio Conditioning, 48min
WL: Yep, thanks to this thread, I kept my chin up & kept movin' forward. :) Here I am now, on the other side of it all. Excited again to exercise, fully equipped with a healthy knee.
Hi Everyone! ;D)
Today I'll be taking a yoga class (if all goes well).
I have to go to the DMV (Dept of Motor Vehicles) today. The DMV near me is insane. Everyone that goes expects to spend hours there, usually half a day they say. Hopefully all will go well & it won't interfere with the yoga class I have planned at 1:30pm. If it does, I'll have to choose something else.
