If you plan on starting on a Low Fat Raw Vegan Diet buy Dr. Douglas Grahmn's book 80/10/10, you can get it on Amazon for under 15 dollars brand new, I would also suggest getting a cheap digital food scale so you can make sure you are getting enough calories both should run you about 30 dollars and it will give you free shipping. Definitely worth the investment. 80/10/10 will answer a lot of your questions and lay out daily menus so you can plan out some of your meals and get used to eating a higher volume of food. I would also suggest downloading a program called CRON o meter, it is a free nutritional program that tracks caloric intake and is very easy to use. http://spaz.ca/cronometer/
No problem, a lot of question can and will be answered for you on 30bad, but the book really will open you eyes on different aspects of nutrition. By the way there are quite a few bodybuilders that eat a Low Fat Raw Vegan diet(LFRV), you can definitely build muscle. Let your boyfriend know maybe he'll try it with you.
food scale + cronometer is a very good idea. you need to weigh your food to get the most accurate estimate of your calorie intake. the calorie values for fruits in those calorie counter programs are too high virtually across the board.
I agree with Lucas and analogies, I tried starting a raw diet before and always failed until I bought this book! It is amazing and very helpful, I totally recommend buying it. I found my copy on Amazon for around $17, but you could find it cheaper, maybe try bookfinder.com Hope this helps and good luck!
You can also have your library do a national library search, I was amazed at how many there are in the library system. Then they can decide whether to order a copy or borrow for you. In the U.S. anyway.
