What do you use to wash your hair? I dont wanna use standard shampoo and conditioner anymore. Dont even want imagine what the chemicals are doing to my body! Really want to find an alternative. This morning I washed my hair with a natural shampoo and used coconut oil as conditioner. My hair feels a bit dry and it was really difficult to comb (I have pretty long hair). What do you use?

I have long very curly hair and all I use is a shampoo bar made by LUSH. I'll try no poo again in a few months when my system is cleaned out from 811.
Permalink Reply by Jessie James on April 10, 2012 at 3:40am I am doing an experiment and quit shampoo and conditioning cold turkey last Sunday. I am only a week into it and it's a bit oily. I used a hair mask last week that I made with avocado, lemon, and apple cider vinegar and I won't do that again! It left my hair super-shiney and oily. I used baking flour to reduce the oiled look for work which worked quite well. I will be rinsing my hair this week with some lemon water and warm water. I hope it will cut some of the oils and rinse out the flour. I have very long, thick hair too.

doesn't matter, if it contains products derived from animals it shouldn't be posted or promoted on a vegan forum. :/

hand soap, shampoo, face wash. You just buy a huge bottle and dilute it in your hands depending on what you're using it for. It lasts forever, it's cheap, and it's all natural and organic.
Permalink Reply by Itsy Sweeney on April 10, 2012 at 11:55am DR. BRONNERS is not as natural as you think. I used to use it too, Until I learned that it contains carcinogenic ingredients like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which is a sudsing agent. It is a quiet harsh soap. I normally don't purchase anything with SLS or Propylene Glycol ....or ANY Parabens. It's hard to find, but they are out there. I'd like to try using nothing but water, that might be my next step!
Permalink Reply by Itsy Sweeney on April 10, 2012 at 12:13pm They may have changed the ingredients due to public demand, it used to say on the bottle "Sodium Lauryl Sulfate made from coconuts" This was some time ago... Hopefully they cleaned up their products! I'll have to maybe give them another chance!.... Unless the "Organic Coconut Oil" is still processed in the same way....??
