Rudest comments you've gotten on pro vegan posts

I'm sick being told that I'm in a cult. That I think I'm better than everyone and that I need to stop pushing my ideas on everyone, especially when I do post something that goes to eveyone and I DO have vegan friends and other people that appreciate what I post and those very same people that accuse me of being a know it all b@!#$ make the rudest comments!! do I post rude ass comments on their dead animal photos or cancer filled meals? no I don't!! WTF!!

So in short what's the rudest comments you get on your posts?

people who say your in a cult are weak people who cant suck it up and be one of the healthy beautiuful people on the planet - it takes guts to stand up and to a 801010 raw vegan low fat diet.

problem is i cant tell you the rude comments ive known because its swearing.

but hey - these people are going to have a miserable life especially when they get older and their deaths will slow and painful.

besides - hang around us - we are much better company !

I hear you Kristen. Most people do not want to hear something that takes them out of their comfort zone.

Besides, food has such a deep emotional relationship with people that when you question that relationship with even well meaning information you get a negative response. It doesn't make much sense to you, because in your mind you are just trying to help. My family is the definition of this behavior. When I first started 811 four months ago I used to share with them loads of information regarding food and lifestyle. They couldn't stand a word of it, because it questioned their lifestyle and made me out to be the villain... even when the information did not specifically address them.

This lifestyle is definitely challenging to share with others while respecting their choices, but being truthful.

Probably the rudest comment I've ever gotten though was from my father. It's not so much a comment or insult as it is an observation from his point of view. Nevertheless it just irked me so to hear it. He told me he was worried about me, in a serious tone. Sounds harmless, but that's one of the only times he's said that to me as his son.

The hard part with this lifestyle (at least for me) isn't jumping back at people with a equally insulting comment like "You're worried about me!? You're telling me this while you're eating a pot-pie!", it's remaining calm and focusing on what's important to you.

Slowly, but surely as I change I can see small changes in the people around me.

Brian, I always worry about my kids. They hear it everyday. I think every parent worries about their kids. I am amazed you have not heard this about everything else you have done in your life. I laughed myself silly about the pot-pie!

General parental worry is fine, but with my new lifestyle I get the "you're doing something different and I'm afraid of change so I'm gonna tell all the time I think you're making a mistake" kind of worry.

Its not the respectful kind of worry like "Hey, wear that helmet. I don't care if you'll only be gone five minutes.".

Its something more like... " You shouldn't eat so much fruit. You're getting too skinny and unhealthy."

Meh. What'cha gonna do.
