just came across this:
Real-life Barbie creates Internet sensation
what's interesting is this statement:
Lukyanova lashed out at the media, claiming she got her Barbie body by eating raw foods, working hard, abstaining from booze and having "good genes."
disclaimer:
please note that there was never any intention to post this discussion as a promotion or endorsement of rawfoods (that's one reason it's in the off topic category). i merely found the items above as interesting. thx to daniel's comment which encouraged me to put this disclaimer up. daniel also found a statement by her saying she eats only fruits because she loves all living things:

Permalink Reply by Yulia on April 30, 2012 at 3:40pm I just saw her video talking about herself (in Russian of course), she is saying that she came from another planet.. and she never had any plastic surgeries.. This girl must have been smoking something..))
sounds like she is not "all there". poor girl. something is already wrong when you operate your ribs out to look like a doll. :/

couldn't agree more! extracting one's ribs is just sheer madness! willing to look like a doll is even more! why can't she just accept what she is?
you know, i didn't see she had made operation and plastic surgeries previously... but now, this is just crazy!
looking at her before and after pics, i must say i prefer the before ones; she looks more natural and sincere...
i don't know, that's so confusing... this all has gotten me a bit lost...
Permalink Reply by fruitsandnumbers on April 30, 2012 at 4:00pm prad, what made you think it was a good idea to post this?
i don't think we can rely on anecdotes about a raw barbie-like girl to demonstrate the validity of a raw diet.
besides, i see no relevance in physical appearence. it says nothing about one's integrity or about one's true self. i believe that, despite any amount of theorization to the contrary, looks are an unreliable way of determining who one is truly.
(not meaning to criticize, just asking)
Permalink Reply by pradtf on April 30, 2012 at 4:28pm daniel,
i didn't post it as a pro or con for raw diets.
i just found it interesting that she mentioned
for all we know, she eats raw corpse parts and drink raw milk.
however, i will take your comment under advisement and edit in a disclaimer to the op. thx!

what??? and what about her statement to the effect that she eats 'only fruit'?
Permalink Reply by pradtf on April 30, 2012 at 5:24pm ok that's good - i never saw that because i only read a bit of the article and heard her singing (which i thought was really good). so thx for telling me.
i'll amend the disclaimer.

Permalink Reply by fruitsandnumbers on April 30, 2012 at 4:41pm she says the following:
I love all living things, so I do not eat the meat. I eat only fruits
so, if she is telling the truth, then she is a fruitarian, and in particular vegan .
Permalink Reply by fruitsandnumbers on April 30, 2012 at 4:55pm i believe it is not unreasonable to think she's in fact a fruitarian, since i think it would be much easier to maintain her body on fruit than animal fat and dairy.
Permalink Reply by fruitsandnumbers on April 30, 2012 at 4:56pm besides, the statement "i love all living things" is very strong! so strong!
but agree that she's completely misguided. that's very saddening...
Permalink Reply by Daniel on April 30, 2012 at 5:22pm You left out the rest of that quote, which says her goal someday is breatharianism. What a waste :(
