One thing though - "my raw meat-eating friends" - you actually have paleo friends?! Wow. A friend of mine with a really very unusual health issue (vitamin D absorption and production - injections, supplements, and she can't get healthy so she, an ex-vegan, chose to go paleo) is on the paleo diet, and I find it really hard to deal with. A lot of the paleos look fit, but not healthy - their skin looks horribly pink and that Wolf guy has visible zits in one or two videos. I would find it hard, if I were you, to be mates with paleos.

Permalink Reply by Dayle Green on January 27, 2012 at 4:35pm i apologise if this is really dumb, im a newbie to vego/vegan and raw. but just wondering on the cooked foods front with potatoes, rice etc. where do oats fall? thanks heaps
Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on March 3, 2012 at 7:05pm you can get raw oats but Ive found cooked oats digest better. Cooking turns the starches more into simple sugars. So we are effectively turning starches more into fruit by cooking them. Hence why fruit is always the best choice.
Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on April 16, 2012 at 12:31pm Ive seen that if people don't understand the concept of high carb vs 100% raw even if its high fat, then they really get suckered into the 'buy my really raw cashew crackao snack!'.
Raw food huckster$ demonise fruit, they demonise high carb intakes regardless of source and then they sell Xylitol, Agave and other refined sweeteners.
I was undercarbed for a brief period when I bought into all that crap. I remember in 2006 thinking that having a break from bananas would be 'healthy'. What a fool I was! It was one of the least productive times of my life. I was greased out on avocado and coconut and crackao. Did'nt last long before I woke up.

Permalink Reply by lelouch on April 16, 2012 at 9:36pm DurianRider you are really a great humanbeing!! Really enjoyed the video and learned so much from it. Even i was committing the mistake of choosing to fast over eating cooked carbs. Now i really need to fix my sleeping time. Thanks a million
Permalink Reply by Heidi Daniel on January 12, 2013 at 6:38am Thank you DR. Your swearing shocks me every time I hear "F" word. I learn so much from you and watch your videos even though it shocks my system every time I hear the F bomb. What if your audience includes children. I have a two year old and love to educate him on this lifestyle but I can't have hear your videos.
I know it's how you express yourself and you have that right but what if it really hurts others. I know you care deeply for animals but maybe not using the f word could show your care for sensitive human listeners. How about using fudge instead. Just kidding but not really. With affection and admiration Heidi
