I don't want my dog to be vegan, they naturally eat meat, so I think it would be best for her health to eat raw meat, that is what I am looking for, but thank you for your reply :)
Yup, my dog eats raw meat, bones, eggs. He's a 20 lb mutt and has been eating raw meat etc. about 4 years. I've heard of barf and there are distributors online, I think.
The Ultimate Diet: Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats by Kymythy R. Shultze is a good book.
Here is a good thread about it on Connie's forum: http://nakedfoodcafe.ning.com/forum/topics/desperate-for-canine-nut...
Warning: the whole thread discusses raw meat in great detail!
I posted in that thread about my dog (page 5). We also touched on BARF, and I think that it does unnecessarily complicate things. A bit like gourmet raw for dogs, which means lots of work, or buying expensive superfoods :).
My dog is ten and has been mostly meat and bones raw all her life .
(I am in a quandary now as I find it harder and harder to feed her meat.)
WARNING: I talk about raw meat and animal body parts in this post. Just want to let anyone know, in case someone might get grossed out.
1. Yes I feed my dog raw meat with bones
2. I have a border collie
3. I feed her mostly chicken wings and chicken necks. Ideally, you want a ratio of 1:1 Meat:bone.
4. Don't know of any raw dog distributors online off hand, but I know they exist. I've looked it up before, but just can't remember names.
I find that if you aren't grossed out by meat and don't mind handling it, it is easier to find a cheap source of meat from a grocery store and buy it from there.
A huge plus about feeding your dog raw meat and bones is that when they poop it is basically just bone meal b/c they are able to process and use everything else, therefore their poop dries up within a day to nothing but white dry crumbles. No more nasty squishy dog poop on your feet! :)
Here are a few guidelines when buying meat for your dog:
1. Don't buy any weight bearing bones (too hard)- thighs, legs, shoulders, etc.
2. Look for a ratio of around 1 part meat to 1 part bone, doesn't have to be exact.
3. You don't want anything that is chopped up into bite sized pieces. If the bites are small enough your dog will probably try to swallow without chewing and could choke.
4. However, if you buy something that is really long like a turkey neck, you may want to cut it in half.
5. I find it easy to make one big purchase, and put single servings in plastic containers in the freezer. That way I can take one out at a time without having to thaw more than I need for one day. This also reduces the amount of raw meat handling time and frequency. I let the meat thaw in the container, put the container on the ground and let her eat out of it. Then when she is done I can just go pick up the empty container and wash it.
Hope that helps. Sorry if that grossed anyone out. It grosses me out sometimes, but I just tell myself that this is what nature intended for my dog to eat.

Ever since I first heard eggs described as chicken menstruations I've had a problem ingesting them.
I second this Sultana, for sure.
Thanks B, excellent info as usual!
Europe is different.
People started to think about nature and saving nature early on.
We have alot of law regulations about animal treatment at the farms and they are well let us say getting "closer" to the natural one.
for example cows are free run…
no haven't heard that about the soap and cancer, seeing it's allopathic in nature (addressing a symptom not the cause) I can't imagine how that would work.
