Question on SALT... could it be that salt is quite ok for me?

Right, I've been following 811 for over 3 months now and have had the opportunity to experiment with salt. I noticed that when I don't consume any salt whatsoever then my stomach feels a bit unsettled and I seem to retain more water. However, when I do eat a little salt then my stomach is completely settled and I don't retain that much water. Why is that? I've been reading here (and elsewhere too) that salt is the No.1 enemy for water retention problems and how salt is responsible for all sorts of other health issues. So why do I retain less water when I put a little salt on my salads? Why do I retain water when I avoid salt like the plague? I'm confused.... is salt actually ok for me for some reason?

How are you doing now with the salt issue? I have similar problems. I'm trying to come up with a correct amount of salt, I definitely need some but too much is too much. IF I'm low on sodium I feel spacey in my head and weak but 5minutes after getting salt I feel fine... I eat celery every day but it's just not enough... Putting salt into a fruit smoothie doesn't sound right... but my cortisol levels are up and I'm sure there are many other imbalances in my body. Will a blood test show these?

Well, Dreamer79, I still use salt in my salads and
 it works out just fine for me. I've developed a good
routine: breakfast and lunch are fruit-based whilst 
dinner is salad, veggie-based therefore salty. 
So I only eat salt in the evening. This works out 
fine for me. Tomato, celery and similar foods 
contain lots of potassium so I need to balance it
out with sodium. How do you get your salt? 
Hope you don't put it in your smoothies! :-)

Greens usually kill my salt cravings.

Lorian, it's not a craving. I feel indifferent about
salt. They make it out that salt is the enemy
when it's not. Sodium is needed for basic nerve
function. Some of us just don't hold on to it as
well as others.
