here's another though i don't know whether she's strict veg or not (sent to me by bigG):
New IMF Chief Lagarde Vegetarian.
IMF vegetarian chief
Christine Lagarde, the new head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), is
not only one of most powerful people in the world she’s also a vegetarian.
Largarde is the former French Finance minister appointed to serve as the new
chief of the IMF after the former chief was arrested for attempted rape. She is
seen as one of the most powerful people on earth because of the IMF’s control
over the world financial markets. The IMF currently loans $750 billion dollars
out to member countries to help stabilize markets and Lagarde is now in charge
of the whole show.
Christine Lagarde is somewhat of an anomaly in the male driven sexist financial
world. She is a 5’ 11” tall mother of two who practices yoga, scuba dives,
doesn’t drink, and lives a vegetarian lifestyle. A far cry from former IMF
chief and accused rapist Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
Let’s hope Lagarde can bring some of the care and compassion from her veg
lifestyle into the world of international finance and cleanup the incredible
mess it has become.
Oops, another French IMF Chief who's having problems with justice... Not a good example for vegans I think :-\
partrik baboumian is another that you can add to the list - though you'll see from the video that there is more than just physical strength that is in place here:
thx to jon fergus for putting this up on 30bad originally.
Look who's going plant-strong these days!
Not just firemen and your average Joe, but high profile people like Bill Clinton, Sanjay Gupta MD and Michelle Pfeiffer.
This week Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel publicly got behind plant-based eating, saying the ENGINE 2 DIET has improved his running times. Rahm also believes that Chicago's healthcare costs could be dramatically reduced -- if more people simply decide to go plant-strong.
Watch RIp Esselstyn of Engine 2 and Mayor Emanuel talk healthy eating:

this is a particularly interesting item with bill gates and other billionaires supporting the vegan effort:
from bigG about sam simon co-creator of the simpsons.
Simpsons Co-Creator, with Terminal Cancer, Gives Away His TV Fortune
Sam Simon, who made a fortune as co-creator of The Simpsons, is enjoying giving away untold millions as he battles terminal colon cancer.
The nine-time Emmy-winning writer-producer, 58, says he is using his wealth to, among other causes, help shut down roadside zoos and abusive animal shows, fund a dog-rescue haven in Malibu, and fight hunger, he tells the Hollywood Reporter.
"I get pleasure from it. I love it. I don't feel like it is an obligation," says Simon, who more than 20 years ago co-created the animated FOX phenomenon with cartoonist Matt Groening.
"There is stuff happening, really good stuff, every week," says the upbeat Simon, who has had surgery and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
A Stanford graduate raised in privilege in Beverly Hills, Simon, who is currently not married and has no children, was given a three- to six-month prognosis in May. He said his own family is fully taken care of, so now he's getting joy in his final days seeing his fortune – tens of millions annually in royalties alone – go to good use.
His Sam Simon Foundation in Malibu is worth $23 million, and other charities, like PETA, Save the Children and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, have also been recipients of his largesse.
"I want medical experiments on animals stopped. They don't do anything, and they don't work," Simon said of his future wishes. "Veganism is an answer for almost every problem facing the world in terms of hunger and climate change."
Thanks for this thread Prad, lots of interesting stuff.
you are very welcome art!
there are some who say not enough is happening and there are others who feel uncomfortable because too much is happening. none of it matters - there are huge changes on the way and no force can stop evolution!
welcome to 30bad too!
