30 Bananas a Day!

I'm about to go to a sushi restaurant with my family so I looked at their menu online to see what I might order and there is absolutely NOTHING that I can order! The only thing that they have available is an avocado salad. I have seen this salad before and it only has a little bit of lettuce and a crapload of avocado. Basically, its just avocado. THe problem is that everyone that works there doesnt speak english very well (we've been there before I was raw) so I dont know how I could even describe what I want to them. What should I do? Should I order the avocado salad or am I better off with a vegetarian roll?

disagree - I have never compromised my health in 8 years to make someone else happy and eat 100% all the time. It's a choice. If I make one compromise, it's easy to make another and I always felt terrible afterwards. Why would I do that? I don't alienate anyone, just make a choice not to participate in any event that involves going out to restaurant, etc. Everyone always respects that choice, as I respect there choices.

Peace

My mom saw me eating 10 bananas this morning and FREAKED OUT!

that's sort of funny viktoriya.

you eat bananas while others eat corpse parts which damages not only their health, but destroys the environment and makes a total mockery of ethics.

i'm wondering just who should be freaking out! :D

i agree with jennifer:

You would not be the cause of the critical atmosphere/lack of harmony, the family that criticizes would.

and maddi's idea of bringing fruit is a good one too!

hold your ground and may be that will inspire other members to join you.

Have the avocado salad and adjust your fat intake for the next couple of days to compensate!

Can you request extra lettuce and some peppers? The should understand some basic english..

If it were me I would order the avocado salad and ask for more lettuce, keeping the request simple so they would understand.

At some point you have to start setting boundaries with your parents, this might be a good opportunity to practice that.  "Mom I Iove you and would like to go out and have nice time at the sushi place but if the fact that I will be eating my own food will cause us to not enjoy ourselves then I will have to not go."  You can bring your own tupper wear full of fruit, another thing people have done at nice restaurants is call ahead and tell them you will be coming in with your family and are on a special diet and would like to bring in a water melon for the kitchen to prepare.  They might not understand exactly but when you show up with it they will probably get it, lol.  Also hand them some money with the fruit you give them to prepare.

if it were me i wouldnt eat anything

id eat when i got home

I'm pretty sure that sushi rolls are comprised of salt.  They add vinegar and salt to the rice in order to make it sticky.

Maybe you could ask for a bowl of brown rice?
