someone won 150.000 euros and wants to spend it on animal liberation (in austria). now he asks people to come up with ideas. the project will have to fulfill the following criteria:
Tags: animal liberation, animal rights, veganism

I don't have any fully formed ideas, but I do feel that whatever the person who won the money does (big respect to them btw!) it would be most effective long term if it is aimed at the younger generation, children and teenagers. Adults are often set in their ways and simply don't want to know/don't care. Young people are more open to new ideas, and adults are often swayed by younger people in their lives. Reaching the younger generations would have a greater real world impact IMHO.
I'm not sure what to suggest as I have no idea how far the money will go, but if you're in contact with this person, tell them that if they are doing anything with video content and require copyright free music, I can supply it for free. I'd love to help in any small way I can.
Permalink Reply by Olive Fruitvegan on June 26, 2012 at 12:40pm Richie, thank you for your thoughts. Yes, i agree, it is my intuition as well that we have to work with the younger generation (pupils, students, people under 30 in general).
I will definitely keep in touch with you with regard to the free music, awesome offer!
Permalink Reply by Richie Fruitbat on June 26, 2012 at 7:04pm Cool! I can create music in pretty much any style (almost haha!) and deliver it completely mixed, mastered and broadcast ready. Let me know if you need anything!

Permalink Reply by Herbivore Lion on July 9, 2012 at 6:30am Hello I have two ideas regarding this which could be combined.
The first is creating a 24 Hour Vegan TV Internet Channel. This is something anyone can easily contribute to. The second is creating an Amphibious Disaster TV Vehicle Show (you can see how it can be combined with the first one) which would involve constructing an amphibious RVRV (raw vegan recreation vehicle) that is equipped for surviving natural disasters such as floods. Something that there has been a lot of recently.
I actually feel Australia would be the place to have the show as there's lots of space including lots of desert and ocean. We could market it at ABC as that would be a way through to the mainstream but a vegan independent production would have its upsides too.
My ultimate idea is to use the vehicles to lay peaceful media sieges to places of animal exploitation and then broadcast the footage stating the locations of these places so the general public can come and see with their own eyes.
Permalink Reply by Mera/Feather Story on July 9, 2012 at 7:19am One idea I've had is to tell stories of animal families...personified...kinda like they do on national geographic, except not wild animals, domesticated/farm animals.
I think targeting families, parents-to-be who can relate to the very issues taking place within these animal families is a good idea. I know my ideas about dairy and eggs changed drastically when I began to think of myself on the same level as the animals who have these things central to their reproduction taken from them, but only when I began to think of myself in terms of reproduction...pregnancy, parenting and the shifts it can have on a person.
Permalink Reply by Nic on July 11, 2012 at 6:49am promote vegetarian/vegan channels on Food Network and animal planet. in case you haven't noticed, animal planet also has shows where animals are hunted and killed (SO SAD!).
another idea is to gain ground on politicians. MAKE 'farmers' put 24 hour cameras in factory farms. SHOW THE WORLD what is happening in those farms. there's no greater advocacy than transparency.
also, just DONATING the money would be great. we do NOT need more stand-alone advocacy groups. there are too many already, like MFA, Farm Sanctuary, ASPCA, PETA, Humane Society, etc.. this causes a large divide in the amount of work that could be made for animals. if these groups could band together, however... that would cause a greater impact on people.
(I do understand these groups all have different goals, but they should at least collaborate better.)
ps. I'm a huge animal advocate. I'd do anything for animals. I want to dedicate my life to saving them. so any ideas that are built upon, I'll help you whole heartedly! (though I'm in the US...)
