30 Bananas a Day!

Hey everyone, I am having a hard time finding a fruit wholesaler in Connecticut. I know New Generation is in New York but they don't deliver here. I don't mind buying it from the grocery store it isn't a big deal, it would just be easier to find it in bulk somewhere. Organic preferably of course but beggers can't be choosers. haha. I would be happy either way!

Love you!!!!

Hi Kim,

I buy the bulk of my fruit at Costco it's not organic but pretty good price and quality, organic greens from Whole Foods.

There's a big produce wholesaler in the Hartford area, I'll post the link if a I find it.

Freshpoint has organic bananas but not much else organic.

If you're not too far from Windsor, Raw Food Central (http://www.rawfoodcentral.com) does organic produce orders each week. You can get almost anything organic provided it's in season. You email your order in on Mondays and pick up + pay in cash on tuesdays. Cost is wholesale plus 10% to cover their costs. Just call the number on the website and Curt will hook you up. I get my produce there every week.

Thanks so much! Yea, I live in Farmington but I don't mind driving to Windsor it really isn't all that far. I might check out that place in Hartford too!

There's also M&M produce in Hartford which has a similar selection to Fresh Point and is right next door. I go to the wholesalers in Hartford at least once a week.

Your first time can be a little intimidating because no one there is really jumping at the chance to help you out. There's different coolers for different produce and you go into the coolers and pick out what you want. Most of their clients are larger vendors and they're busy fulfilling orders for them so when someone walks in half the time they don't even notice.

If you wanted to hitch a ride and check it out at some I'd be willing to let you tag along. I usually go either Mondays or Wednesdays between 9 and noon. Fresh Point closes at 1p and M&M is open until 4p.

Thanks so much! Yea I have heard of them and I met someone who works there. Maybe after this hurricane!

Check here too, Kim:

You mentioned New Gen not delivering, but it's worth checking to see if the wholesaler will allow you to visit or even shop in person at their warehouse.  Some are ok with this.

Look up 'Raw food Central' in Windsor. Im pretty sure there is an organic co-op there.

New Gen is good for papaya but they don't stock organic. IMHO our staples should be organic.

Loading up on pesticides can load up the bodies fluid retention in some sensitive people.

You can get organic bananas cheaper  at RETAIL in CT Kimberley, than we can get farmer direct here in Australia. US is about 2USD per kg. We pay 2.60USD per kg picking up direct from the farmer here in Australia. We have to drive 50miles each way too. Not complaining, just say'n.

Organic Aussie bananas were pretty exy last year.

Yea.. Fruit is freaking expensive in Australia, what's up with that?!! You two need to move here!

And thank you that is actually really perfect, I had no idea that existed here and the order page makes it really easy!
