30 Bananas a Day!

I'm 16 years old and I live with my parents. I haven't told them that I'm going raw, because they WOULD NOT understand... but I've been buying a s*** load of fruit and vegetables.

-24 bananas

-A head of lettuce

-10 mangoes

-3 cucumbers

-5 tomatoes

-15 oranges

-15 apples

-A bit of cilantro

-2 bags of grapes

-3 cut up bowls of pineapple

-3 avocados

-7 pears

-10 kiwis

The total came to around $100. With my parent's groceries the total was $250. We just spent $250 groceries last week and we already ran out of food. My dad turns around and starts full on screaming at me because food was so expensive. I have had an eating disorder for four years and so food, money, and disappointing my parents are all things that REALLY get to me. I just fell a part and I'm really considering all of this. I want to be LFRV more than anything, but I don't want my parents to have to pay for it. Not to mention this is the only thing that helps me control my eating disorder. If I go back to cooked foods I'm going to continue the binge and purge and starve cycle because I can not control it.

What should I do?

That is an amazing idea. My parents have never offered me an allowance, and I only clean up after myself, but if I offered to clean up after them too maybe they would give me money for food.

I'll print out a "will work for food" paper and get on that! Maybe if I do that and get a job they'll stop making me feel so guilty.

Thank you!
Ooo, that is a good idea. :D I tried making them banana "icecream" once, but they wouldn't try it. Maybe I can force feed them. :P
Ah, it's going to be difficult to get them to allow this. I'm ordering 811 from amazon, and once I get it maybe I can just hand them the book and tell them to read it, and then try to explain. I dunno.
Raw food, even before 811, was/is how I control disordered eating, as well. I did drain my bank account on food though, at first. Now I keep bananas as a staple and eat whatever my bf buys. There are quite a few people who control their eating disorders with raw food, so if you search, there may be enough anecdotal information around to at least partially convince them. Good luck!
Thank you :D I think it is a positive wat to control it. I actually wish I could spread the word around that this helps, because it really does!
have you checked looking for fruit trees in your neighborhood? i used to think i just had 3 orange trees near me, turns out theres about 9, im sure people would not mind but actually appreciate it if you took some because then they wouldnt have to pick it up :] haha good luck!
Was gonna say the same thing. Maybe there will be more to forage later on in the year
Yeah, last week I was on a walk and I discovered 3 walnut trees pretty close to my house as well as more pine trees than I could count. Sure, it's not fruit and they're high in fat, but it's cool to know that I can get walnuts and pinenuts that are 100% free, local, and truly raw!

And if you're willing to work for food, the best thing of all would be to grow a garden. If you don't have the land maybe you know someone who does. (I live in an apartment without any real land, so I go to my brother's house to grow tomatoes and other foods.)
I thought about that, and had a look around, but I couldn't find anything. I live in the desert, so there isn't much growing here. When I go to my grandmother's I'll probably be ably to find a bunch of food!
get a job
grow a garden (melons would be good if you can since they will give you fruit soon!)
talk to your parents!
I was thinking about growing a garden, but after doing research on it I realized there isn't a lot of things that grow up here in the desert. I attempted to grow strawberries, but they would just shrivel up and die. :(
What i was thinking about is searching for lower priced/sale items in your store. You mentioned pineapple, well you know here in Seattle my store had them buy one/get one free, and they have a huge amount of apples for 99 cents a pound, and I still eat salsa so I check every week for who has tomatoes on sale, and my point is that you can probably get everything you need and impress your parents if you hunt for sales and make a pointed effort of trying to save them money. All adults think that children don't understand how hard they work for money, and it offends them, so perhaps if you could try and hunt for deals your father would be more willing to pay for what you need. Getting a job would be great, but finding good produce deals is something that you can do right now, you can get online at the grocery store websites and read their weekly ads and plan!

Good luck =]
