30 Bananas a Day!

Recently, I started getting very sharp pain in my jaw when I'm having fruit (usually I drink it in smoothie form, so I'm not chewing).  I have a history if severe TMJ pain, but I haven't experienced this kind of pain in years.  I'm wondering if fruit can trigger it, if it's detox, or what.  It's really strange.  Has anyone ever heard of this?  I'm frustrated because it's really painful.

How can eating a particular food, especially in a smoothie, trigger a response like that?  See someone who is an expert in the field of TMJ.

do you mean at the back of the jaw, under the ears?

Yes, it's by the ear.....the temporomandibular joint.....it's a sharp searing pain!

Same thing JUST started happening to me, too - just last night. Don't know if it's wisdom teeth or TMJ or stress....OR: Could it be a detox symptom?

I'm wondering if it's detox or not, too.  It's really strange.  I'm hoping that's what it is because I don't know how long I can go on with that kind of pain.  My jaw hasn't hurt so much in years.  What is your pain like?

It's a sharp pain right under my ear. I haven't had my wisdom teeth out, so I'm hoping that's not what it is, but the pain is right where my wisdom tooth is. Don't know if it's stress or detox, though. Have you had your wisdom teeth out?

Yes, I had mine out many years ago.

Have you been under any stress lately that would make your TMJ act up?

LOL.  I'm aways stressed & depressed.  But, that hasn't changed any more than in recent months.  Plus, it seems like the pain is specifically when I'm having fruit (drinking a fruit smoothie).  Otherwise, it's still painful, but not the very sharp pain.

Ok, now we're zoning in:
Are the fruit smoothies very cold or room temp? If they're very cold, that could be it.
Also, what about trying some relaxation methods like meditation or massage?

I drink them room temperature.  The pain seems worse when I drink smoothies with grapes in them, but I've noticed it with blended bananas, too.  Mmm....massage.....I actually have tried it a little while I'm having the pain.  It helps a little.  I should try meditation, but I'm never really sure how to do it.

There are many websites and guided meditations on YouTube. Anything to relieve your stress/depression may prove beneficial in helping your jaw pain. Just like we all experiment with 30 BAD (recipes, food combinations) experiment with relaxation techniques and see how you feel. Best wishes!
