Here is my situation and I really need help with this...
Prior to 80 10 10 I have had acid reflux for 1 year (that I have known about) and have been taking previcid 30mg 2 times per day before my first and last meals. During this time of my life I was eating a mostly vegetarian/vegan diet. My acid reflux was under control and not causing problems for me besides the occasional slightly sore throat.
However, after starting 80 10 10 100% one month ago my acid reflux has gotten worse and worse as each day goes on. For the first 1-2 I attributed this to poor food combining as I was eating all different types of fruits together, but for the past week I have been strict about my mono meals and have only been eating 1 fruit at each meal and waiting 2-3 hours between meals. Also, in the last week I have cut out citrus, nightshades, and acidic fruits.
For the past week I have been eating mono meals now of bananas, mangos, leachees, cherries, and grapes. At the end of the night I have been have 3 cups of chopped up raw cauliflower & 10 sheets of nori/seaweed (I know this is not 80 10 10 but I have been using it to transition and help me stop eating steamed veggies as I as in the beginning).
Each day though my acid reflux gets worse. My throat, stomach, chest, and back all BURN. After each fruit meal I eat everything starts burning and now it just isn't going away. I don't know what to do anymore???
Am I just personally not able to eat this much fruit with my acid reflux???
I am so committed to this lifestyle but it is hard to feel so positive about 80 10 10 and not have doubts when I feel absolutely horrible because of this acid reflux from the fruit.
Also, I have continued taking my acid reflux medication for this month that I have been doing raw 80 10 10. I went off of it for a few days at the advice of someone on this site but my acid reflux just got even worse on those day and so I went back on my medication. I want to eventually go off of the medication but I don't feel like now is the time since my acid reflux is out of control. I will go off of the medications once my symptoms get much better.
I am so scared about this out of control acid reflux caused by eating 80 10 10 since my father died in December 2010 of esophageal cancer.
I am so at a loss at this point!! Should I try eating steamed veggies for a few days to give my stomach/esophagus/throat a break from all the acid and then go back to mono meals of fruit??
**I would really appreciate it if people could give me advice on what to do because I feel like I have done everything right by cutting out suspicious fruits and doing mono meals and nothing is working for me and just getting worse.
Please help if you can!!
Thank you.

Permalink Reply by Chad Vannortwick on July 10, 2012 at 7:25am Have you ever thought of trying a water fast? Your body might really enjoy a break from everything.
Permalink Reply by Zeta Reticuli on July 12, 2012 at 5:59am Refer to my previous comment regarding a stomach full of acid.
Water fast = a stomach full of diluted acid.
You have to remember, we're talking about a stomach that is inflamed, tender, probably with a weakened oesophagul valve, probably ulcerated. And, almost certainly, over-acidified digestive juices.
The only possible way I could see a water fast helping anything would be if the water were alkalyzed & ionized.
That being said, my condition got worse for weeks every time I went more than 3 hours without food.
Permalink Reply by Zeta Reticuli on July 12, 2012 at 6:09am I would also like to say how great it is to feel Real Hunger. Since I've been Raw Vegan, I've started to once again feel what a normal person feels when they're hungry.
For those who don't know what I'm talking about, for about 13 years, when I was hungry I did not have the hunger growl or tummy rumble to indicate when I was hungry. What I had was a stomach filling with acid & erupting like a volcano, spilling stomach acid up into my mouth.
Given that, you can clearly see why I tried to avoid having an empty stomach.
Permalink Reply by Kitkatchoco2001 on September 26, 2012 at 10:05pm Hi Jessica, how are you? Are you feeling better? I know this is an old post, but I recently experienced some terrible acid reflux and had to review my diet. I started reading Dr. Graham's book again and he mentions about eating wholefood only (not sure if nori seaweed is wholefood?) I would remove the nori seaweed of your diet. Regarding the cauli flower, here is what Dr. Graham says in his book
'You may have noticed that I described the frugivorous diet as one consisting primarily of fruits, with the addition of tender greens. Where do the rest of the vegetables fit into this picture?
This may shock you, but by every indication, our digestive physiology was designed to process the soft, water-soluble fibers in fruits and tender leaves, almost exclusively.' I think here is the answer :) I know Durianriders already replied to you and other members, but I needed to write this one. I posted a discussion the other day and I was surprised how many people are out there to help others. It felt so good that I had to do the same :) ... Best luck to you, xxx
