This month I bought a case of Organic Bananas ($34.04 vs $20 for a case of non-organic). I thought I'd try it to see if I could feel a difference while eating organic. But here is what I noticed first.... There is no comparison between the taste of organic and non-organic!!! These bananas taste AMAZING !!! What in the world are those other things I've been eating??? They do NOT taste like these !!! Has anyone else noticed the MAJOR difference in taste? WOW !!!

Permalink Reply by Jon Fergus on May 5, 2012 at 2:20am I won't touch conventional bananas. I don't know exactly what they're doing to them... but whatever it is, it's not good. That's not how a banana is supposed to look or taste.
Organic bananas for me all the way! It's worth the extra cost.

I have read that the water in fruits and other plants is the purest water you can find anywhere. This fact has made me stop to consider if the plants are doing any filtering of what they take in. Does anyone know how the plants wind up with such pure water in the fruit while leaving the junk out ?

Permalink Reply by dangermouse on May 5, 2012 at 3:08am What brand were they? Where I live, the main organic bananas are Dole, I think, and they taste just the same as any conventional to me. Sucks.
Permalink Reply by Jon Fergus on May 5, 2012 at 10:25am Boooo to Dole! Whatever they do, I don't believe for a second they're actually organic.
Permalink Reply by Rayla Sun Gazer on May 5, 2012 at 9:50pm @dangernouse (cute name BTW LOL)... The Organic brand I bought was Chiquita. The Non-organic I bought the case of was also Chiquita. NO comparrison. They don't even taste like the same fruit. But what's WORSE is Dole !!! They are only 38 cents per pound here but I won't buy them again. They are awful. The only banana that's worse is what Walmart sells. Some weird off brand that is the absolute worst banana I ever ate. I threw them away after the first one. YUCK !!!
Permalink Reply by Nathan on May 5, 2012 at 3:32am Yes there is definitely a taste difference between organic and conventional bananas. In fact, there is a difference with most fruit, and it's fairly easy to tell the difference in a blind taste test.
Permalink Reply by Rayla Sun Gazer on May 5, 2012 at 10:01pm Thanks to all of you who replied. When I first bought this case of Organic I was very upset. A $14 dollar jump per case was hard for me to swallow. BUT... now that I know what a REAL banana tastes like I just can't go back to non-organic !!! I don't yet know how they will make me feel but I can tell you that the taste alone is worth it. Organic Chiquita. I'm hooked !!! NOW 30 bananas a day will be (and taste better than) a piece of cake !!! YUM !!! This has encouraged me to try other organic fruits and vegetables !!!
