Just sharing a story...
I began having health issues this year due to a higher fat diet (about 20%) - just due to stress. Then I unsuccessfully attempted to regain my health by reducing my fat intake to 10% or less, or no overts at all. I found no difference in my health despite several months back on 80/10/10. However, I was finding my health issues exacerbated by bananas, but kept blaming my previous months of fat, vs. the bananas.
Then recently I ran out of bananas for 2 weeks and was surviving on other fruits, rice, and greens (almost no overt fats). I found my health issues disappeared and I dropped my extra 10 pounds (I had put on) within a week, so fast my head was spinning!
Anyways, due to extreme stress in my life, I am eating some low fat cooked carbs, but they are not ideal like fruit obviously, and I have to make a plan to eat only fruit. My point of this though, is for some reason my body has started freaking out on bananas. Anyone else experienced this? I'd be interested in trying to re-introduce them in large quantities again after several more months of a 90% raw 80/10/10 diet with some cooked carbs. I am struggling with getting the calories needed on fruit without eating bananas due to the lack of availability of ripe fruit here this winter. I am replacing bananas with brown rice (which is definitely NOT ideal!!!).

You might've lost those 10 pounds because of undereating..

It's not news to me that you can lose weight through undereating, but that was taken into consideration. I was not undereating or eating fewer calories than before.

bliss - i go off bananas sometimes too - and dont forget that the 801010 does allow for a "little" bit of cooked - we are talking steamed rice here or a boiled potato.
fats go rancid when you cook them - rice, sweet potatoes & potatoes have very little fat, high in carbs, low in protein so i believe these are "when limited" ok - but remember, these carbs are nutritionally inferior and as soon as you can replace them with whole raw fruit, the better your optimum health performance will be.

Permalink Reply by Bliss on March 12, 2012 at 11:15am Pineapple, oranges, melons, grapes, mango, etc.
I dunno, I've never been good on bananas, but only started eating tonnes of them when I lived in Maui last year.
Permalink Reply by apple@li on March 12, 2012 at 11:27am Thank you Bliss!! That pineapple in your pic looks yummy!! Yeah, I totally feel foggy headed, tired, bloated and full, not a good way from nanas, in addition to the skin probs and 'gaining' feeling. I guess maybe some peeps can't tolerate them?? Apples and pineapples have been my staple lately, but I really wanted to try out nanas again.... but now I'm not so sure ;) I always loved them in smoothies, and nana 'ice cream' I'm just afraid to try again, lol I have been enjoying this fruity way~o~eating for a year now with a few slip ups, but stopped the nanas around the end of the summer.
Sooo happy to hear you are feeling a bit better....and I hope you escape the stresses in your life somehow and fully recover ;)
Permalink Reply by Bobbi on March 13, 2012 at 3:51am did the bananas start tasting really bad to you at any point? because all of the sudden i can't bare the taste of my bananas smoothies any more. I throw 1/2 my smoothie away yesterday cause it was making me cringe and causing a weird, tightening sensation in my chest and throat. i don't get it cause it've been drinking them just fine for a long while now. i wonder if something is wrong?

I'm wondering if there's something new going on with the fungicides/pesticides used on conventional bananas. I've been reading a lot of "Bananas make me sick" posts here on 30bad lately. We can't really afford organic bananas, so this scares me...especially because I'm breastfeeding. :(

Permalink Reply by Peter Csere on March 13, 2012 at 5:46am I am wondering if the over-reliance on bananas is causing a nutritional imbalance in the long term.
Unfortunately bananas are the easiest and most economical way to start on this diet.
I think we should be emphasizing that bananas are a good way to start, but a variety of fruit is a better way to meet our nutritional needs.
