Hi out there -
I'm new to HCRV. Heck, I'm new to vegan. Health issues have forced me to consider alternatives to medicine (that aren't working!).
My issue is this. I will go about 4 days, completely raw, and what I start to crave is not meat or cheese, but salt. I start craving chips. Just plain tortilla chips. Why would this be? How do you overcome the cravings? How long will it be before I'm craving free?
Any ideas / tips / tricks are more than welcome. I feel very alone in this HCRV diet. Everyone thinks its great, but no one I know eats like this!
Help!

I would eat raw for a while and then just go buy a huge bag of ruffles or fritos and eat the whole thing. First off, it takes a while for your body to re-calibrate to less salt, it's very addictive. Second, the best remedy for this is to slowly up your greens in take. For me personally what worked best was eating a few sticks celery each day as a snack. I did this proactively before the cravings hit, because let's face when you're craving tortilla chips, you don't want celery. But go with whatever green vegetable appeals to you, spinach, lettuce, kale... my fave just happens to be celery because it's crunchy and salty like chips.
Eventually, over time of consistently eating enough greens, your body will re-calibrate. Instead of craving chips when it wants salt, you'll want spinach, celery, lettuce, etc. instead. Keep at it, it takes time.
