30 Bananas a Day!

Hi y'all,

I saw some really amazing youtube videos and stories about 80/10/10 diet and totally want to give it a try. I do need some tips about how to transition from vegan diet to 80/10/10, and how to deal with social situations. I mean, I am already having a hard time trying to figure out how to be vegan around people. :( HELP!

Also needing some tips about how to living under (college kid) budget in Germany since I don't really speak the local language. Oops. :P Fruits just seem like a luxury item in Germany, and I don't really know how to look for bulk/whole food dealers here. Do you guys have a database for it? Or tips for how to find them?

What can I do when I just crave some warm meals? I've notice that my body (or more like my belly) just really want some warm food to warm up, especially in the evenings. Too much cold or uncooked food tends to give me some digestive problems.

What to do during winter?

Thanks for helping! I can't wait to begin this new life style! :)

There's really nothing to it, you can either go out with friends and order a salad with some vegs, or something else vegan, or you don't go out at all. Don't compromise your values and lifestyle choices for anyone. Welcome to 30bad. You'll learn a lot here. ;)

i am trying not to compromise, but when I had to eat at my friend's home... that's when the trouble begins. They tend to "forget". errrr

It's always the "but" that gets us into trouble....forget about that excuse and call it a day. If your friends diets are in opposition to yours don't except the invitation. How else are you going to follow a completely new way of eating. It just won't work for you if you allow yourself to give in for the sake of politeness.  You can't expect them to remember your life changes. It's totally up to you, you never have to eat at someone else home. It's your choice. I'm telling you, that right there is a huge one....eating at other's. Big mistake, Big no no. Just say no thanks.

yeah, I did go to my friends' house less. Just once in a while to reconnect. Oh well, time to find new friends, I guess. :)

Nah....you can still have the same friends, just don't eat with them unless you bring your own food, or invite them to your place and offer them what you're eating....lol, that might get their attention. ;)

If you hang out with me, there are always food and drinks. :P

There is no way they will eat my food, I've tried. Maybe side dish, but that is already pushing it. Oh well, I shall get a nice and beautiful big transportable salad bowl and a dressing container and party hard in the land of pork, butter, and cheese. :)

ha ha....yeah, pretty amazing...you can have a lovely salad and fancy it all up with healthy eats and folks are still looking for...."wheres the beef" or some other bad ass food.  Too bad I say....they should be thankful to now have a friend who will do their minds and bodies goods.

That's what I've heard. Either way, how do I find those places? Do you happen to know what they might called in German? I don't have a car, but I have a bike. I am always welling to bike around to find good food. :)

Great news of the day! I found this place that sells fruits and veggies in bulk! It's called "Fruchthof Nagel" in Neu-Ulm. Apparently it does require membership and it somehow depends on who I work with. Anyways, it is complicated. BUT I send them a membership request anyways. I hope it will work out! Fingers crossed. I am super psyched right now! :)

awesome!

Hello bellashsin,

their homepage (Fruchthof Nagel) looks to me like they are selling to other merchants, not to private persons. That's why they are asking for your employer!?! But maybe they make an exception for you if you tell them that you're going to go fruity and going to eat huge amounts on your very own? :-D

About the social part: as far as I can tell it works best if you stay friendly but persistent, respectful and polite, but consequent. Handling such situations is something one has to learn, but it's kinda easy once you get used to it. Regarding the kind of people who never get it, can't respect your ethical and healty choice and bug you all the time: I'd just avoid them as much as I can. Or I'd get quite clear and little less polite that I don't want to discuss this topic any more.

Good luck!

Hi,

That might be right. I hope they will make an exception for me. :P

That is definitely a great tip. Thanks! I hate when people, even the biologists, is trying to argue with me with my dietary choices (ie. vegan, I can't even imagine how they will react when they realized I have moved on to 80/10/10). It can get really frustrating. Sad part is, they are the closer friends of mine. Oh well, I really have to figure out how to make more and new friends who can help me to be better at this stage of life.

Thanks again.

Cheers!
