30 Bananas a Day!

Newbie here, what kitchen appliances are a must have?

I've been eating raw fruits and vegetables for about 38 days now, and I'm thinking I need to buy some kitchen appliances (I have none). What's the difference between a food processor and a blender and which one is more important to get first? Is there a food processor that does what a blender would do? Are there any other appliances I definitely need? I'm very new to the raw vegan lifestyle (and LOVE it by the way), actually, I'm pretty new to preparing and making my own food period (used to buy precooked food a lot). Are there certain spices or things that I should go ahead and get, like cinnamon?

Also, what does a durian taste like? Does it come close to another fruit in taste?

Is there any advice you can give to a brand new raw vegan?

Hi Shelah,

I'm a newbie to this too although I've been vegan for 5 years, I gave away my food procesor as never used it but I use my Champion juicer and Vitamix every day

I had durian in the States and it was delicious, like mango but soft as banana and sweeter, the ones in the UK don't taste of anything!

Wow, 5 years? You probably know a lot. I'm thinking I might not need a food processor as much as a blender for sure. The UK? I've always wanted to visit. Thanks for answering!

juicing technically isnt part of the 80/10/10 diet because juice isnt a whole food but many people juice anyway:)

only fresh citrus juice . no need for any other juicer , that is why i put Press

blender, knife, spoon, bowl, peeler, citrus press, spiralizer(opt), compost bucket

no fridge no stove

Lol Compost bucket? It's funny you said that. The people I live with said "Since you've been eating a lot of fruit, I think it's making the trash can really heavy, can you take it outside to the dumpster instead?" no big deal, every couple hours I'll walk outside and throw my stuff away!

I like the idea of not needing a fridge!

ripening ripe eaten  massive blend  big bowl glass or staining steel, strainer. &

start a compost  , water pans to keep cool/hydrated stuffs

You have no kitchen appliances? Good for you! Last 38 days showed you that you do not need them on this life style. Which for me is a great benefit. I do not know how about you but I have no interest in wasting my time preparing food which ends up in destroying the quality (nutrition) of it by some tool i had to spend money on run by electricity made by poluting our planet.

Wow, you seem pretty passionate about that. I'm actually getting bored eating mono meals, and I can't really make salads anymore with the dressings I used to use- they all have xanthan gum and "natural flavors". I want to make my own soups and dressings. Thanks for responding!

My fav is a grapefruit spoon which I use to eat melons with.  Also have a citrus juicer and cuisine art blender.  Would also like a spiralizer but haven't bought yet.  I've heard vita mixes are way better for smoothies.

I don't use any spices.

My only advice is to enjoy copious amounts of fruit, track your calories to make sure you're getting enough, prioritize rest and water and enjoy your new energy.

Yeah Im thinking of getting a spirilizer after I get a blender, I want to try raw "spaghetti" that I keep hearing about. I haven't heard of a grapefruit spoon, sounds helpful.

When people talk about eating a lot of fruit, are you supposed to eat even if you don't "feel" hungry? I eat 3 bananas and my stomach seems to hate the idea of eating 1 more. I did notice that when I eat fruit (like 3 oranges and 2 bananas) I get hungry after 2 hours.

Thanks for responding!

You're understanding of hunger will change over time. For most of us before raw, we sense hunger in our stomachs. Post-raw, you will rarely have any sensation in your stomach when hungry, but more like a pleasant desire to put something in your mouth.

It could be that since your stomach is not making noises, you aren't aware that you are hungry. It could also be that you haven't yet adjusted to eating large volumes of food. Listen to your body. Don't cram it in if it hurts. If you get hungry again, then eat. Over time you'll adjust and figure out what your body needs.
