Hello to 30bad community. I am new here and have a few questions. First let me tell you my story in a few sentences.
I’m 25 and this January I started working full time and unfortunately got sick because I carried a bug from New Year celebration. So I stayed home one week on prescribed meds. I got better, but after few days the illness returned. It got better over the weekend but worse during the week. And it was like this for almost three months, which was extremely exhausting physically and mentally. Especially because I love to do sports and I have live gigs with my band on weekends and I had to omit sports completely and had difficulties performing with my band. I was desperate so I got my blood checked and all the other tests and they prescribed antibiotics specifically for the bug they said I had in my bloodstream. I again got better for like three days and then got way worse with fever. At that point I thought to myself. Doctors obviously can’t help me and I am not up for another round of antibiotics so I decided to change my diet which I don’t know how, but I felt like was the way to get better. Funny how my body spoke to me, told me what it wanted.
Up until then I was eating usual cooked meals, but I always tried to eat somewhat healthy, so I didn't eat high fat meat, I didn't overeat, I drank milk and ate yogurts like society says. I enjoyed quite a lot of sugary treats chocolate bars. Had an orange or so a day and some veggies. I felt like I was eating quite all right compared to people who stuff themselves with cow meat, drink coffee, coke and snack on donuts. But now I see my mistakes clearly.
I used to have some digestive problems for the past few years, stomach aches and I could not gain weight even if I tried (and I tried few times, because I'm real skinny). But I attributed that to stress from exams at school and the odd fast food I had. Now I see that that’s what was a cause of my bad immune system, being sick every winter and a having spring allergies. I was also diagnosed with asthma, but I swim a lot so I never had any problems with that.
But in March after the antibiotic fail my problems culminated. Because I was not able to do sports I started to have problems with my back (I’m quite high) and slight problems with breathing. Also I felt like I could never get healthy, nothing was working, not antibiotics, not herb teas, not my supposedly healthy eating habits. But my body somehow called out for a change so as I said I made one.
I started reading about healthy eating and I came across studies that shown how cooked food makes us react as if we were poisoned. How animal protein closely relates with getting and not getting cancer and how dairy products pollute our system. How processed sugar is basically a poison for our body and has no nutritional value. I then I decided I want to eat raw.
After switching to raw (fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, greens, sprouts) my illness I was fighting for three months disappeared in three days. I was amazed. So I started swimming again and after two weeks I am almost at my usual lap times, soo happy :) I feel great most of the time I am more optimistic and feel light and energetic. So thanks to all the people that eat and live like this and write about it!! Thanks to you I was able to learn about this lifestyle and it improved the quality of my life. Hearts to you <3
I hope I didn’t bore you to death :) Thanks you for reading. And also excuse my English I am not a native speaker and I've never been to an English speaking country.
Now, to my question. When I switched to my new diet I started to lose weight which is really troubling for me, because I am 193cm high and weighed 76kg now I weigh only 70kg, which is too little. I know it’s because I don’t eat enough calories, but when I try eating more fruits with high sugar content (bananas, grapes) to cover my energy needs I bloat in my stomach, have bad smelling gas, my skin turns really really dry and I feel bad. I guess it is due to my intestine bacteria not being in balance. So I was wondering if you have any tips for me what to do to be able to eat more fruits and enough calories that way. I would very much appreciate it.
Thank you

I've been on this diet just over a month... but when I eat not as much sugary fruits I am quite ok, no bloating, no dry skin, no smelly gas... but I dont take in the kcal a day I need. But when I add those fruits its really bad... im eating a lot of sugary fruits about fifth day in a row and its getting better... I dont feel energetic anymore... and I have bad mood... I think I'll have to take in my calories rather from more nuts and seeds or something until my digestion returns to normal... if it keeps getting worse like this...
But thanks for your advice i will try to hold on as long as it seems healthy.
