30 Bananas a Day!

Wow I was talking to my mother today and while discussing the health of a loved one who just started chemo for cancer...she told me she wants to get healthy...I was almost in shock. What's a good easy to read book for her or better yet a movie or something she isn't a big reader...she's not going to do 811 or raw because she's still not sure it's the best thing for a person she thinks it's too much fruit. She also thinks that I should eat fish. she's opened up to the organic thing a lot but I'm not sure what's a good program for someone like this she's not even vegetarian but she's seems like she's really starting to think about the idea now and she's even using earth balance butter (vegan) and likes it. She even asked me about coconut oil and using it for cooking I don't know where she got that from but it's good to hear she's thinking about better options for her health. I want to point her in the right direction without overwhelming her with too much info or animal rights type stuff or environment stuff still turns her off. Whats a good program or informative book or dvd for someone at this stage? Any suggestions?

Give her the DVD 'diet for all reasons' by Dr Klaper.

Heck, getting a redneck to swap turkey for tofurky is hard enough let alone suggest someone drink oj instead of budunwiser. :)
Ok thanks DR i'll look into that one :)
The DVD, The Pleasure Trap is really good. Tells you why it's hard to eat the way you know you should, very inspiring stuff! :)
That sounds very interesting its funny when im looking for stuff to help other people i just find all kinds of stuff i want to watch and keep myself and this sounds like one of those :)
Hehe, I was thinking visual program as soon as I saw the title of the thread. Some documentaries are a good place to start like: Food matters; Breakthrough; and Raw for life is also ok, but just explain that high fat raw isnt the way to go.
Douglas Grahams Perfect Health audio and 'the cause of health' dvd (I havent seen the DVD, however I assume its good).

OR just line up some video's on youtube and let her play through them
Hey thanks STe....yeah i was looking at some docos today related to cancer and diet and the medical industry for a family member who has just started chemo (and following the medical bs) and i found some good stuff that my mother and i ordered for him.....so she will be watching those....i came across food matters but didnt really look at it much...got food inc though... whats food matters about ? also i didnt come across breakthrough...and not sure shed dig raw for life or dougs stuff...i need to start on diet in general for her right now like no whites why meat is bad why dairy is even worse and why soy, wheat and artificial why artificial sweeteners are horrific and what good food alternatives there are for these
Yeah it can be overwhelming, and the path will generally lead to 811 in the long term. Maybe still test the waters though and show a small clip of doug on youtube. Food matters I found really interesting, its about foods role in health and disease and theres a lot of food vs medical treatment, and the benefits or raw food. Breakthrough is the storm and jinjee raw vegan family documentary, perhaps not ideal.
I think its important to let her know that she doesn't have to eat just like you in order to be healthy. Dr. Fuhrman and Esselstyn have great books on eating low-fat vegan diets that really do perform miracles with most people's health. I recommend Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman.
Ok thanks Ben ditto on the eatting like me thing.....is eat to live a book or movie....i havent read/watched this heard of him and it though ;)
