30 Bananas a Day!

Lol you just gotta laugh sometimes

To start I am 15 (16 in 20 days). I have always been interested in vegetarianism. I decided to try it for a week in February 2012 and never looked back. I kinda just jumped into non-meat and it was simple actually! I increased my dairy intake a lot after going vegetarian to ensure I was getting my "protein" and "calcium " in. Lol, then I found out that protein is found in every fruit and vegetable and also contains all eight essential amino acids. And ccium is found in dark leafy greens. I also learned about milk and the hormones, IGF-4, neuro toxins, etc and gave dairy up. Became vegan in April 2012. At the same time I became low fat cooked vegan

I am still high carb cooked vegan as its really expensive for my mom to buy all these fruits and berries. So I do eat beans, quinoa, oatmeal (yeah a cup has 5g fat but so be it) quite frequently. But i always start the day off with fruit, whether it is 10 bananas or 1/2 lb of dates (Dole dates), an apple and 2 bananas. 
Anyways my mom basically got mad because she is buying so much berries and fruit and it is expensive and goes so fast. 

My whole family pretty much thinks I am crazy for eating mostly fruit and vegetables/greens. But in every argument they pose whether it be about protein or digestions etc i always come out and explain and justify for them. They think i make it up and i cite sources and they still disbelieve it. 

You just gotta laugh at them sometimes lol

I honestly believe every day since I'd say mid March they have said something about my diet or veganism. Its just getting to the point of annoying

Good for you on going vegan at such a young age!

I'm sure that your family loves you and therefore has good reason to be concerned about you eating a diet that goes against what they have always believed is a "healthy and balanced diet".  If you ever need links and information to give them that will help them understand your diet better please let us know because there is bound to be someone here that will provide you with exactly what you need.

even after becoming vegetarian i felt better. Not as much better because i got a lot more acne because of high dairy intake but still better. HCCV is when things got great! I can only imagine what 100% RV is like! I have done a few days of it and felt great but every day doing it!? Now thats good stuff :)

Anyways, Running is improving, i am feeling MUCH more energized, etc. Side reasons are of course factory farming, political reasons, ethics, etc.

I'm 14 and started raw vegan.and I have been vegan for three months about.

drew, send a email to your most supportive parent giving a link to a web page telling the benefits of raw vegan. its a really good start to proving them wrong.

That's what i did to my mom after she was complaining that i need to eat some fish or chicken..i laughed when she says there was no protein in fruit.Now she buys any fruit for me in bulk.its really amazing.

Move out and finance your self so you can do what you want. PLENTY of 8 year olds living out of home and working 12 hours a day to feed emselves. Think of what opportunities we have living in the western world AND the question to ask ourselves is 'what excuses am I telling myself thats preventing me from taking the action I need to take to get where I need to go..'

I was living on the street at 17. Best thing that ever happend. Helped fast track my life for sure.

I can stay HCLFCV for two more years. Once college comes I'm out of here for sure :)

Hahah I can just see youtube blowing up saying "Durianrider tells 15 year old to live on the street"

This summer I may try to look around for a part time job, to make some extra cash and of course, free/discounted fruit! :)

Even if I cannot be 100% raw or even high raw, I still have hccv available: potatoes, quinoa, oatmeal, beans are my staples :D and they won't think I have problems or am weird because its not all fruit and greens Lol

Sorry I just needed to get this out:

Yeah I am 17 and my parents are worried about my health, protein and calcium intake.  I show them videos of people eating 811 and tell them about all the misconceptions about protein and calcium but they still don't believe me and they believe videos of before/after 811 people are fake.  Nevertheless they have given up on me and let me do what I want but I still feel self-conscious eating this way in front of them.  And whenever I eat bananas my mom is like BANANAS HAVE 100 CALORIES, your going to get FAT!  Even though I have lost ten pounds since eating 811.  All I eat at lunch in school is an orange because I am afraid of looking weird with a bag of them and I still get stares.  I just use my excuse of having celiac which isn't a lie, I really do have it, and problems with candida.  The worst though is my one childhood friend thinks he's so manly because all he eats is meat and he makes fun of me saying that I don't eat anything (when I eat MORE than him) and that he is going to shove meat down my throat.  He is such a tool and won't respect my opinion at all.  Even though i tell him why I do this, not because I want to lose weight but because I feel amazing when I eat this way it still doesn't get through to him.  

Oh, and my favorite comment of his, when we were at the restaurant and the server asked if anybody wanted desert he said, "Oh of course your not going to have dessert, it has too much sugar in it!"  I was so ready to tell him that I eat more sugar in fruit than he has eaten in his entire life!  

 It makes me sad that so many people have it all wrong about food even "dietitians" and sometimes makes me doubt if I have it right or not.

I'm pretty conscience at lunch too (glad school ended for me!). I just eat a cup of broccoli, 7 dried pitted prunes, and an appple :/

If my parents keep persisting that I dont get enough protein, zinc, calcium, or iron I'll happily have them take me to the doctors for a blood test. Luckily they seem to be willing to understand I am not going back to SAD an provide me with a lot of food. But if the day comes! I am going to tell them to test me! :D

school finally ended for me today, so happy, and good idea with the blood test! I might consider doing that as well.  For my comfort and my parents as well. :D

And yeah, I would love to see my results of the blood test. I have been HCCV (about 75% raw) since April and vegetarian since February
It'd be nice to see what I am lacking, if any
