One of the my favorite fruit is pricky pear cactus fruit(besides Durian, Lychees and bananas). So, last week, when I saw cactus fruit in 40lbs on sale and decided to purchase it. I started mono eat on the fruit of 10lbs and next morning I had hard time using the bathroom because I had seed impact in my colon and rectum. It was painful and uncomfortable ordeal that lasted for three days. First and second day, in order to get the seed out I had to get them out with my finger and push with my butt muscles. So I ended up third day, getting a colonic. But after the third day I still had plenty of seed in the colon/small intestine. It was a situation that I learned my lesson not to eat prickly pear fruit but juice them which is what I did for the remainder of 30 lbs. I am write to everyone for here to say please don't eat many cactus fruit just juice them. Or you will be in heavy pain situation. Peace yalll and keep eating those bananas. They are easier to digest.

So do you think it is for the seeds? after removing them, you haven't had any symptoms, right?
I was thinking it could be the enormous amount of magnesium prickly pears have, one can eat the amount of day in only one meal but who knows.
thanks for the experience.

Still we will have plenty of them at the Raw Fruit Festival http://festival.811-friendly.net this year, but in juice, strained to get all the seeds out of course. And that's a delight!

Glad you're feeling better, mate.
I live in the land of plentiful mickey mouse eared succulents, though I've never developed a craving for them. But I'll be extra careful if I ever do.

I was out hiking and saw some cactus that resembled prickly pear and thought I would taste wild cactus out of curiosity. What I did not realize is that this particular cactus had almost microscopic needles. I spent the next three days picking needles out of my hand to the amusement of my family! Luckily, because I was already skeptical about its edibility, I had only tasted some juice, and I only got one needle on the corner of my mouth.
If I had consumed the whole thing, I am sure some doctor would have earned their paycheck picking those things out of my mouth:D)))
Peace, PK

Thanks very much to all.
