Does anyone know what these white-ish/beige-ish formations I've found on some of my dates are?
I bought a bulk order a couple of weeks ago, and these are forming on the remaining ones that are getting a bit more dried out. It does not have a furry look or smell to it like mold, but it doesn't look crystalline enough for me to be confident that it's just sugar, either.
Any thoughts? It looks like a chalky donut glaze. (Picture attached)

The sugary crystals won't look perfect because they aren't factory processed from sugar cane. Do you have a better photograph?
Here is an okay photo of some small sugar crystals inside dates - they will taste sweet, obviously heh:

Being that they tasted almost exactly like a maple glaze on a donut, I'm going with natural sugar formations. LOL
But, I guess we'll know I'm wrong if I start puking or something.... lol
