So my dad came to visit for some days and we've been going out to eat because it has always been that way, but now with my diet things became a little complicated lol and we've been having mini debates on eating meat , and dairy and protein ( basic stuff). He eats A LOT of meat , and I'm not talking about lean meat he eats brains, guts, ribs, lets say he has a SAD diet but with meat as his staple lol. The problem is that now he's talking to my mom and telling her how I can get an anemia or even die from leukemia lol idk what the f.. is going on through his head but I'd say he's over reacting (maybe cause his mexican and mexicans are really close minded) but I don't know how to let them know that I feel better than I did before and that this diet is really working for me. I'm eating about 90% percent of my calories from fruit and 10% from greens.
Ps. My dad is a person who thinks that God created cows and chikens for us to eat them o.0, he says that if we wouldn't eat them they'd eat the earth's grass and we would die. facepalm
(WOW I didn't know there was such an unbalance in nature that cows were gonna end up fu.. up our world.)lol anyways this is more of a rant but i wanted to share this with people that will get me (:
You can assure your dad that you WILL DIE (and so will he, and everybody else), just MUCH LATER than you would on a SAD diet. ;)
lol, Death is the only thing for granted but I don't want to wonder If I could of lived better and longer life once I'm on my deathbed and its to late to change it.
When I say "I´m lactose intolerant and celiac" people respect that because it´s a medical diagnosis. The truth is I´m as lactose-intolerant as most people, and I get a bad reaction when I eat bread as everybody else.
I´m just starting with 811 and I decided not to share it with most people.
if someone asks me why i eat so much fruit I think I´m going to say something like "the doctor told me" that always makes people respect whatever diet. And if they ask what doctor I can say "Dr. Graham" haha,
lol thats a good one (:
Maybe you can see if your dad will watch long-termer Eduardo Corassa's video. He's a great example to comfort your father.
Good to know that someone understands me about mexico and its closemindness. It's not that I'm stereotypying us or whatever cause I'm 100% mexican myself, but It's just that when 98% of the people you see everyday and interact with eats meat and doesn't really care about our mother, kill themselves everyday with their jobs, diet and stress, and they just have that ignorant, consumer, close minded attitude that I hate, is quite hard not to generalize. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there's people out there in Mexico that are open minded and have a good diet and are awake, but I just haven't had the pleasure to meet one .
"Maybe cause his mexican and mexicans are really close minded"
That's one of the most close minded stereo types I've heard in a while o.O
My mom was skeptical at first too, but I just showed her the results of other people and some facts and shes cool with it now.
It's hard to explain but just read above's response and you'll get me (:
One of my vet's is Chinese and from China, and she said that the Chinese will eat almost anything. With so much poverty, and so many people, they are desperate. So I respect that. In the US, we have so many food choices, that it is sometimes hard to understand the why other cultures make the food choices they do. I also find that those new to the raw food movement tend to be the most zealous and most critical of others you don't share their views, so it goes both way, in my opinion.
I understand that that a lot of Latin American cultures are poor. Because of that their culture dictates what they eat, and sadly it's a lot of unhealthy choices. But the previous comment, "maybe cause his mexican and mexicans are really close minded" had nothing to do with poverty. It was a quick shot at a group of people and it bothered me. Unless your dad really is a Latin American in poverty, than I could just be wrong :) I don't want to cause an argument, maybe a discussion. But when I read that comment, based on the context, it sounded more like a biggeted stereotype rather than an educated statement.
Yeah I understand that I might have said it wrong, and I know there's people who doesn't have a choice but to eat that way, but I had no time to explain myself so I just made a quick statement. I wasn't stereotyping trust me, It's just that in the city I live poverty isn't a problem, most people make good money to have a healthy lifestyle, but they just don't see fruit as an option. It's either tacos, hamburgers, burritos, french fries, pizza, bbq, and a lot more. And okay I respect their food choices, but once I mention that I eat fruits and vegetables all eyes are on me -.- and now I'm the freak with an extreme lifestyle lol, IMHO I think its more extreme to have tacos for breakfast, meat for lunch and maybe refried beans with corn chips for dinner D: . But anyways I respect every single living thing on this planet I can assure you that, so I don't try to change people lives. I mean, I do say my opinion on what's a healthy diet and so on but It's up to them If they take my advice or not (: . I just wanted to make clear that I wasn't stereotyping or judging anyone because I don't wanna give a wrong impression in this community, I just made a quick statement without explain it any further but trust me that it gets really annoying at times when your own family, and community start to judge you based on eating FRUITS AND VEGGIES D:, it seems like If I was living in some crazy parallel dimension where humans have a fear of eating fruit lol
