30 Bananas a Day!

I have always had a constipation problem no matter what I eat from SAD to 80-10-10.  So this is what I've gleaned from this site on ways I can resolve this issue.

  • Eat less often (2 or 3 meals instead of 4 or 5), but bigger meals
  • Eat 1 type of fruit per day, finishing off with my greens like lettuce and celery
  • Drink lots of water 3-4 quarts per day
  • No overts (nut, avocadoes, just the fruit and greens) for the first 6 months
  • Exercise hardcore at least 1 hour per day, more if possible
  • Replenish water lost from exercise by using the scale weight of before and after exercise

Basically I have been doing everything bulleted above, except the eat 1 type of fruit per day, and I am still constipated after being 80-10-10 for 3 weeks.  Any ideas?

Though alot of trial and error at one point, I see your plan to be pretty much what I came up with also. What I also had to do was pay careful attention to the fruits or foods that slowed me down as opposed to which didn't. Subtle stuff to most people, but made a difference to me. Took a long time.
tanawana,  Alot of people here say to eat more bananas for constipation, but I've been sticking with about 6 a day because I've heard just the opposite.  I also do a mono-meal of apples after my morning citrus drink.  I just can't win.  Hopefully the longer I'm on this, the better.
Bananas can be tricky for sure, and do differ from person to person in their effect I found out. Maybe try the typical citrus w/banana(not the greatest combo but who cares :O) or try some prunes or even add more greens to your day. Some may frown upon it, but adding certain steamed veggies or yam/sweet potatoes, or even greens may be a stepping stone to consider for the time being. Also, instead of hardcore exercising, maybe try instead walking or yoga with more focus on digestive helping postures. All in all it sucks for sure :O(
Thanks all!  I'm going to up my cals even more and just wait it out.

Ditto this.

I used to have really irregular/infrequent BMs when I was anorexic. What's really helped me is having LARGE meals (well, large for ME anyway - around 700-1000 calories at a time). Something about having all that food go IN.... pushes some stuff OUT if you know what I mean ;) Blending helps to get those cals in.

yep yep and yep! doing this changed everything for me :)
OFF SUBJECT: I just love your hair.  What do you use on it?  I am almost silver naturally and am thinking about using Manic Panic to go metallic, but I love pink too.  Do you know of a good temporary color that really is temporary?

eating 80-10-10 and a series of colonics/ colon hydrotherapy helped me tons. I went from once per week to 4 times per day! The SAD diet makes the colon really sluggish and sometimes its needs a boost to get it working optimally again

3 weeks is a pretty short time compared to how long you've been alive. If you eat enough fruit, I think the constipation will give way soon enough.

Sorry if this is a bit awkward...but do you squat?

It's very helpful, not to mention it saves the waste of toilet cover wax papers.

lol Alyshea, I make the same thing banana/spinach/date smoothie , it works like a charm!
Hey, maybe ur body needs more time, cos if u had wheat before these 3 weeks, than ur guts probably need more time to get the glue out.. Just continue having fresh fruits & veggies en drink water, it'll work out fine :) (ps: really, 3 weeks is not very much compared to the years before.. I know it would be far easier if we would all have the benefits we wanted after day 2 of lfrv, but hah, that's a bit whishful thinking :))
