Many of us have decided to move to a warmer climate, myself included. My tentative goal is to be outta the frigid midwest and into a sunny warm locale by 2013.
It would be nice if it were sooner but I will have to sell my house, probably quit school, find a new job, find a place to live, take care of loose ends, and all that; so 2013 sounds like a good goal.
Those of you who have already made the move, please share your tips & stories of your moving adventures so the rest of us can learn from them :)
Which places are/have:
- good job markets
- affordable organic produce (especially mangoes & pineapple :-P )
- safe neighborhoods
- low pollution
- and whatever else you can think of!
Please share you strategies and how you made your move a success! For example, stories about finding work (esp. non-desk work), housing, new friends, etc. would be helpful and interesting.
My sentiments exactly honeydew!
Oh my... same here ladies..:)
7-8 months without sunshine is killing me up here in Connecticut.. can't take it anymore..
South Florida is the only place to be in the US for us in my opinion.. at least for me it is, because I want to grow my own mango trees at least 100 of them!!!!!:))
I already started to wrap up things here, and hopefully in the next year I'll be able to move down there!
Niiiice, I hope to have many mango trees as well!
I'm looking at Jan. 2013 for a move date. I have to somehow sell my house first and save up some $$$.
I'm thinking Ft. Lauderdale or Miami. I'm going to be in the Boynton Beach area coming up this May; I'm going to do some scoping out the situation while I'm there.
My sister used to live in Hawaii (Oahu), but moved back due the high cost of living. Perhaps it is different on the big Island. Plus, I too heard it's hard to find a job.
Glad to hear you're making it work Aeri the Fairy!
Hawaii is awesome! You'd probably have to live simply like Aeri in order to afford it though.
BTW Yee's mango's are the best!! (I think they're grown on the big island)
