30 Bananas a Day!

Hello all! I am new to the HCRV lifestyle and have been searching for the last month or so for a good place to buy fruit/produce wholesale. I have been to Aldi's and they have some good deals, but not always. Does anyone know where I could buy organic fruit wholesale? Or even just somewhere to buy relatively cheaply in bulk? Could really use the help!!!

Hi Emma!  I get my bananas in bulk from Kwik Trip believe it or not!  A case of bananas costs me around $15.  They are not organic, unfortunately.  You are from MN?  Most of my relatives are from there, but I live in WI. :)

Hey Katie :-)

Kwik Trip is a great idea! I know of a couple nearby so I will check 'em out. I actually have a lot of family in Wisconsin, but live in MN. Funny we are kind of opposite!

Wow that sounds like a pretty good deal for organic food! Which co-op distributor do you use?

I use wedge a lot, there are also couple of churches in Minneapolis that either sell donated produce super cheap or give it away. I need to look up exact addresses though. They are not organic, but a lot of time I can get box of 8-10 melons for 2$ or a box of cucumbers for $3, they had bananas last week box for 2$ super ripe and ready to be eaten, but I was a bit too late for that deal ..  Like I said, they are not organic but overall saves money for organic greens.

That's fantastic! I would love to know those addresses if you are able to look them up :-)

this place is absolutely amazing!   1000 Oliver Avenue North Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55411-3734, USA

Pastor's name is Pastor Paul. They open doors m-f at 9:30am and usually there is a line at that time already. They don't have fruits and veggies every day, but often. I went today nearly at the closing time ( they open till 11am) and grabbed 2 boxes of bananas for $4 each. They are perfectly ripe with few freckles on them.  I might go in the morning grab 1 more box to freeze and perhaps go on banana island for a week.

How far is this from you? I go there 1-2 times a week, as I live only about 2miles away, so I can call you when they have fruit or even pick up some stuff for you and you can come grab it from me when you have time? I live in North Minneapolis.

There is also a Joseph's house food ministry, they get a lot of donations from Trader joe and 3 boxes of whatever you get are $40. But they don't necessarily always have fruits and veggies. They also recently moved and I haven't been able to get their latest address, but I'll keep looking.

almost forgot they all cash only, and Pastor Paul doesn't like big bills.. so get lots of $5 and $1 lol
