I am in a situation where I will, most likely, live with little electricity (solar power), and at times with none. I'm usually drinking at least one banana smoothie a day, blended with a stick blender so there's no oxidation. Perhaps the solar system will be able to run a 600w immersion blender, maybe not, any thoughts about this as well would be appreciated! But my main question is this: HOW TO MAKE A MANUAL STICK BLENDER??
I know there is one called Vortex blender, but its a traditional type blender (with a crank) and it's therefore gonna create, well, a vortex, which is gonna oxidize the smoothie!
Maybe its possible to use a pestel and a mortar, maybe just a fork and then a crank mixer or something....who knows....
Anyone with experiences with this?
Back to nature, buddy
Forward to nature ;)
Take a banana bite and blend it creamy in your mouth! Doing it like this you make sure you chewed long enought ;~)
YesYeah, forward to nature!
I know this does not answer the question, but you can always eat food as it is... No need to blend everything, bananas taste even better not blended.
You can mash up ripe bananas and mix in chopped up pieces of fruit.
For breakfast I often have chopped up fruit with a little blended fruit poured over it.
Non electric crank blender ha. I'd like one of those. You wouldn't create much oxidation without the use of electric.
Mash up with spoon or eat as they are.
You can use a mortar and pestle or a potato masher. The potato masher works pretty well but it won't be as smooth and oxidizes more than the stick blender. I think it will be hard to top the stick blender.
You can also look into a hand crank food mill but I've not tried it myself. Here is an idea for you but it will take a while to make a meal.
Buy a wand from Hogwarts Clearing House, aim it at a blender full of fruit, and emphatically declare, "Smoothie cadabra!" Works every time.
hook blender up to push bike and peddle - lots of people have done it - see youtube
The best blender is your own mouth! Guaranteed zero oxidation and complete nutrient absorption!
Wow thanks for lots of great ideas! Yeah I know eating fruit like it is is always the best, and I actually prefer to do that with everything except bananas. Well actually, if the bananas are really good, like the small ones you get in the tropics, perfectly ripe and sweet, then I love just eating them, but honestly, most commercial cavendish bananas taste pretty boring to me, and the smoothie just makes it easier to eat a whole bunch of them. If I could eat Cherimoyas all day I would! Actually, I might be able to do so pretty soon, cherimoya season just started here on La Palma in the canary islands and they are awesome!!
Yeah I will try a few different things, like mortar and pestle and stuff...lets see, if I find a good way I will post a vid or something;)
Any other ideas would also be appreciated!
Thanks a lot guys!
if you wont eat a fruit as whole as it is, dont eat it blended. Do you realise that you cheat yourself?
Its like if someone does not like Avocado. But a little bit of salt and suddenly they can eat it. Thats manipulating your food and cheating your body. If you dont get it down as it is, dont eat it at all.
