My BIL has Mantle Cell Lymphoma, and I'm curious if anyone knows of any studies or actual persons who've been cured by raw food in this case.

Permalink Reply by todayisforever on July 13, 2012 at 5:12am I would say it depends on the state in which that cancer is im mean that kind is a rare appearing one.
what are the doctors suggesting ? if they still talk about a treatment then it is mainly early enough, but u never know.
look at the gerson diet and institute they really good with this.
i whish yr bother in law all the best and that his cancer heals and disapear !
And alot of strengh for him and your family during this period.
Permalink Reply by Stephanie Watson on July 14, 2012 at 4:32am Thank you. I'm afraid it's quite far along at this point. Unfortunately, he's been dealing with this with modern medicine and I suspect it's killing him. But, my husband just wanted to read the research because it makes HIM feel better. See, the reason we are eating raw is due to the high rates of cancer in his family, and his desire to try to prevent it in himself. Watching your big brother die in agony, in a drawn out death (he's still living though in horrible pain and is hospitalized right now though I think he'll be released soon to die at home with hospice) is enough to frighten even the most ardent lover of dairy etc. to give it up. Dairy was his last hold out, and he's not had any in some time. Funny he's lost 15 lbs and not had one bought of heart burn since then. :) His former claim that dairy got rid of his heartburn has been debunked!

I had a family member that was in and out of a death bed scenario for almost five years. What brought him back every time was either a low fat diet based on ripe peaches or ripe plums.
Anyways, may be you can entice him with some easy to chew soft ripe fruits? It might just work.

First my condolences.
Next, my suggestion. If he is eating a grain/wheat/gluten based diet, request that he stop eating those things asap. About 1 in 132 people have Celiac and about 1 in 20 are gluten sensitive and many more may be undiagnosed. Celiac may or may not present itself with digestive problems.
Grains and gluten can wreak havoc in the body causing changes in tissues and the blood. Part of the problem is the that the body breaks the starches down via insulin. This may lead to high glucose and insulin levels in the blood. Insulin can cause premature aging, degenerative diseases and tissue and cardiovascular degeneration. (As well as weight gain.)
Gluten can cause similar problems as well as leukemia type of symptoms that may or may not be real.
If you can find it at your library and or on amazon.com this book might be of interest:
Wheat Belly By William Davis, MD
This free ebook Improving on Pritikin, You Can Do Better by Ross Horne also comes to the same low fat raw fruit conclusions that Dr. Graham did in 811. Horne was a former follower of Pritikin who promoted a low fat grain and starch based diet. Pritikin struggled with leukemia and later committed suicide most probably from the pain. Horne researches how and why vegetarians eating grain based diets still could not heal from cancers and or prevent them in some cases.

Another family that has had success treating cancer patients with raw veggies and greens that may go back to the 1930 via research and experiences of the the elder Dr. Gerson is the Gerson therapy:

Meat, animal products, and high protein and high fat diets can cause cancers.

And Dairy

He may have good chances of management and recovery by removing animal products, dairy products, and wheat and grain products from the diet, and following a low fat produce based diet.
Ideally, a raw fruit and leafy green based diet are best. Cooking changes foods and renders the vitamin and nutrient content useless in many cases.
You can look up the differences of raw produce verses cooked produce at

Eating a lot of mono meals of oranges will give him vitamin C for immunity and building strong tissues as well as calcium for strong bones. (sick and weak bone organs may be a cause of lymphoma)
Eat lots of leafy lettuces, 1-2 pounds a day if possible.
Good Luck and Peace, PK

You are welcome.
I also remembered these links, and of interest to me is the leukemia article. Sometimes, leukemia and lymphomas show similar symptoms and or may have similar causes and cures. This of course is focusing on the grain/wheat/gluten aspect of it.

Again, good luck, and if he takes any interest and or tries anything recommended here, please up date us with the results.
