30 Bananas a Day!

Okay, so I FINALLY got the book 80/10/10 and read all of it except the recipe section and the success stories... I WILL get to them.

I'm doing better most everyday, but I am REALLY fatigued. I'm pretty sure that my extreme afternoon fatigue is a detox symptom.  I sleep 8-9 hours a night, but I'm always tight and tired when I get up. I've been this way for a LONG time. Possibly a sleeping disorder? I'm overweight and as hard as I've tried to lose weight (I even completed 7 weeks of Insanity), I can't seem to.

Just doing my best now to daily make progress and keep my fats low and my fruit consumption high!!!!!!  Speaking of which, I'm fighting a HUGE craving for Guacamole dip......  Anyone have any substitutes?

Thanks so much for all of your encouragement and knowledge!!!

This is common.  Rest as much as you can.  Your body is healing.  Try to aim for more sleep at night.  Gentle exercise for now.  Drink water.  Don't sweat the weight loss.  Cravings means eat more carbs.  Hugs!

Thank you! I did not give into the cravings.... Instead I am sitting down to eat 4 bananas and drink a liter of water! Then going shopping with my daughter to restock my fruits n greens!

Nothing to worry about ;)) Just sleep and rest as much as your body needs and enjoy life and fresh fruits. I wish you all the best!!

peace, Desi

The craving of fatty dishes is so common, myself suffering from it often. But I recognize it as a DESIRE, not a NEED. The difference is huge. So with a kind and loving pep talk with myself I literally talk myself out of options that contain fats, like guacamole.

Bananas are so filling, making me feel as if I ate a fatty meal most of the times, so I resort to more bananas.

Hang in there, it gets a bit easier. I don't know if the cravings go away completely, I haven't experienced yet, but the coping mechanism gets really refined, and suffering eases up.

I agree with the above comments, but I also have a different perspective to consider regarding the craving for guacamole. I say, if you have been within 811 guidelines for 10 days or so at least, make yourself some homemade guacamole and eat a nice big serving of it. Keep the recipe simple and DILUTE THE FAT: 2-3 avos, 4-5 chopped roma tomatoes, squeeze of lime and light splash of acv if you must (btw, I don't advocate the use of acv as it's not a health food, but you might need it to make the guac taste "authentic"). EAT IT! But, pay attention to how it makes you feel physically. I guarantee you will notice that you don't feel as good afterward as you did from lower fat meals. I think it's important to learn this lesson for yourself...it certainly was for me. Believe it or not, I actually think falling "off the wagon" here and there is necessary because you will learn FOR YOURSELF that you actually feel better on low fat, high carb raw food. And the fact that one meal is high fat really isn't a big deal...just average it out over the next day or so with tons of fruit. Also, as Yogaranka said, it gets easier. The more you are AWARE that your body feels better eating this way, the easier it is to overcome the cravings because you know it's not worth it.

Regarding the fatigue, yes, most likely it's detox. It could be not enough calories, not enough B12 or D, or not enough sleep, but given the history you described with the weight loss attempts it's most likely detox. Just curious, did you ever take birth control for extended periods of time? What about asthma...did you ever suffer from asthma and have to take medication for it? I ask because my wife suffered from the chronic fatigue/inability to lose excess body fat before doing a thorough detox program.
