I am sure that there is probably a better program out there but the two times I've ever needed to make flyers Word has worked great for me. :-)

I will go to dog parks and set up a booth on this one and then have other issues as well.

BSL

What Is it?
Breed Specific Legislation or "BSL" is exactly what it sounds like...regulation of your right to own or, in many cases, not own, a dog based solely on the breed or "type" of dog .

BSL can also refer to regulations and/or requirements placed only on a specific breed of dog and their owners.

No matter how you define it, BSL targets all dogs of a breed -- the innocent as well as the guilty, and it removes the responsibility from the dog's owner and towards the dog itself. Simple common sense tells you that laws are created to punish or deter the actions of humans - not those of animals.

Laws are being proposed every day that are intended to take away our rights to own particular dogs for no reason other than their breed - the way they look, the hype that surrounds them.

BSL is the politician's inadequate and uneducated band-aid solution to address the gushing "wound" of irresponsible ownership and lack of personal accountability.

The city of Winnipeg has BSL under the City of Winnipeg Pound By-law 2443/79.
This By-Law does not address the real problem which is Education and irresponsible ownership.
A dangerous dog is only a symptom of the real problem: irresponsible owners that don't understand dog behavior and cruel and criminal owners who damage dogs and make them dangerous. ...breed specific legislation is an inappropriate response to what is an issue of irresponsible ownership. BSL and the Cost to Taxpayers

Cost of additional animal control offers to enforce the ban or restrictions. **Remember, most cities do not have sufficient animal control departments to enforce leash laws, which if enforced would reduce many of the problems that lead to bite incidents.

Bit Bulls have gotten a bad rap. Just Imagine someone coming and taking your dog/family member away from you simply based on it’s Breed.

Contact your City Councillor by Calling 311 and tell them to Remove

could use a catchy headline, something like "Winnipeg Dog Owners -- could BSL (breed specific legislation) take your best friend away from you?" (may be a bit hyperbolic lol but in any case you wanna push people's emotional buttons to get their attention)

Good Point about the word Winnipeg this way if I leave that out others outside of the city will feel a need to look into this before it hits there town.

After the headline do you find the content good enough?

I left it with a call to take action.

Hopefully they will before they buy a Big Mac :-)

this is the one sentence that I'm not sure I understand:

the paragraph that starts "the city of winnipeg" that's a quotation of the AFF prez?

other than that, bold the headings (the first one can be "what is BSL?") and I think it reads quite well. I asked prad to take a quick look at it coz he's got good editor skills :)

bigG,

i would suggest that you not introduce an unknown breed such as "Bit Bulls". doing so would likely confuse the clowncillors. :D

the other thing to consider is how much info do you want to put onto a flyer. do you want it to give the whole story or be a teaser that people can follow-up on eg email, website (which i know you are thinking about), phone number. leaving it at contact your city council may make some people helpless, whereas, if they can get to a website and contact someone, they may be more likely to take action because they feel part of a group. you should probably run some of this by inger too since she's been 'in the business' for a while.

btw, if you want kyron and me to make up the flyer with your words, you can just send us what you've produced so far. of course, we wouldn't use windoze software, but we can turn it into a pdf document which you can then print out.
