Hello there ,
I have recently moved to japan and I am looking for a raw food community so anyone out there keen to help create one with me please reply! or if your keen to just meet up and hang would be great feeling very lonely here in japan.
Also anyone wanting tips or advice on living raw in japan please dont hesitate to ask.
I'm in Japan too. Are there any more?
I order dates from Oasis Date Gardens in California (http://www.oasisdate.com). They're better than any dates I've been able to find in Japan and cheaper too! I'm getting boxes of 105 bananas for 2,300 yen. 10kg of mikan for between 1,500-4,500 yen depending on size/sweetness. 24 Carabao mangoes for 3,200 yen.
What are you eating these days?
At the moment I am getting boxes of mikan for 1700 for about 5kgs. I am getting dates from amazon but they are expensive and not so good. I am buying boxes of bananas for 1800 . I am also buying organic greens from this website online called budoki and tohoku boku. If you want the address let me know. where are you buying your mangoes I would love some of those? Also the dates are they fresh? I think I will buy some! And the mikan and bananas where are you buying them from?
Its so hard in the winter to ripen bananas and i am getting sick of them but trying! I am also buying grapes and juicing them not that often though
You're still getting grapes up north? Not seen any down here since before Christmas!
I used to order dates from a site based in Japan: http://palmyra-dates.com/ but they were expensive and dry. Tasted decent though.
The store in the U.S. is cheaper, certified organic and juicier! I definitely recommend them: http://www.oasisdate.com/
It would be nice to take a look at the site you get your greens from. I'm growing my own kale and could really do with some decent lettuce for my salads :)
I get all my fruit (except dates) from my local supermarket. Definitely not certified organic :( The mangoes and bananas come from the Philippines. I'm really impressed with the mangoes I'm getting at the moment, really sweet! The supermarket I go to is エッグマート(Egg Mart). Not sure if they're a national chain though.
yes I go to m local shimuza しむザ they are a chain. The site is this one which I think is out of greens at the moment except cabbage
the other one is http://www.budounoki.info/category/003.html they have quite a good selection although it is not cheap.
Oh where in Japan are you? Darn we have no mangoes up here and the bananas are not good they ripen w\but go brown.
will try the dates , thank you! have you heard of the date people? I have enquired and they will send to japan but have not tried yet apparently they are very good. http://www.datepeople.net/
I am craving zuchini bad! but will have to wait till summer
