Permalink Reply by Lala M. Apples on July 18, 2012 at 12:29pm I tend to just rinse the whole head of lettuce. Then I dry it. And use a really good knife to chop it up in very fine pieces. I tend to go with the crunchier varieties --- they seem to be easier to crunch through. I have been eating a small salad at lunch too ... to sort of break things up.
Permalink Reply by Wendy Harvey on July 18, 2012 at 1:40pm yeah the crispy iceburg is so easy to throw down but the mix stuff contains all this chewy stuff... takes like 5 min to kinda get it small enough to swallow, and when i do its so dry and yuky

One thing on this diet is that it may take a little bit longer to eat than other diets as we have to eat more volume. A typical meal for me is 20-30 minutes. If a meal takes less than 20 minutes, one should double check if they have eaten enough calories and or have they properly chewed their food.
Now I like my greens soft and marinated.
You can cut up the lettuce and pour lemon juice over it, massage it, and let it sit a few minutes.
Or, cut up several ripe tomatoes, mush them with your hands till a little juice comes out, and then put this on top of the lettuce. You can either let the juice run down, or massage it with your hands.
If you want the effect of vegan cheese, cut up some avaocado and put it on top. For a salad pizza, add some mushrooms if you eat them.
In a chopper, various forms of salsas and dressings can be made too with avo, tomatoe, and other veggies you can tolerate.
Some people eat lettuce wrapped around bananas, around dates, or in smoothies.
Peace, PK

Permalink Reply by Peter Csere on July 19, 2012 at 7:18am Hey if you value having strong, white teeth that aren't crumbling into pieces, I would advise against consuming all of your greens in smoothies. There's something to be said for chewing, producing those salivary enzymes, and alkalizing the HELL out of your mouth, for half an hour every day.
I mean unless you are the enamel holocaust type of person (brush teeth with toothpaste/baking soda 3x a day after each smoothie)
I chew my greens for a while. I feel like a cow too. But if I drank my greens I'd feel like a coma patient. I prefer cow.
