30 Bananas a Day!

Is it just me, or does it seem like obese, large-sized or just anybody struggling with losing weight can't seem to let go of that high protein mentality or refuse to give up meat? I can't remember having these discussions with trim folks.

What I wonder is, that they really do think they are getting protein, but they are actually getting more fat in their diets, which is connected to their weight problems.

And they say if they don't eat their animal "protein" they get tired and run down. They just won't give up their heavy meat/fat diets.

they also can't let go of ho ho's, pogo sticks, m and m's, twinkies, doritos and fried chicken to name a few.
hmm pogo sticks? that would probably help them. haha
BigG I have never heard of pogo sticks before. I mean, not the kind you'd eat.
Its the diet/ weight loss mentality - Low carbs + high protein = health, in some way its as if holding onto that protein will stop them from getting any worse . With the ad campaigns and buzz words like 'lean' steak 'heart smart' pork etc... people are lead to believe that it is much more detrimental to our health to not have these things than to include them...
its funny they say a low carb high protein diet causes health cos we know that diets high in carbs, low in protein, fat etc are the most health creating. not to mention highest glucose to help us be more active which burns more calories than any fast, starvation plan etc and its actually a longterm solution.

high carb, low protein, low fat + sleep+ water = energiser bunny that eventually becomes fit and trim for life.
Animal protein along with uric acid is a stimulant much like caffeine....people often mistake protein withdrawal symptoms(detox)as protein deficiency.
Yeah, animal products are definitely stimulants and addicting. I remember I used to diligently keep a supply of milk around because if I ever ran out and didn't get my fix I wouldn't feel right. Back then I thought it was because it was so good for me that not having it made me feel bad, but now I realize that that was withdrawal- because now I know what feeling right is.
i ate meat all my life and from last 80 days i did not even touch it, not even bread and dairy product, i feel so good now, go to gym regularly do heavy exercise and quit eating meat did not effected me at all, i just followed Dr. Douglas advice
Kelly I remember that comic, wasn't it from the Boutenko's family site? It's so funny, and so true, I have always head heavy people ask me where I'm getting my protein.

As a "large person" I can tell you it is about associating the feeling of being sated with idea that you have consumed what you need. Fat people are really stuck on the idea that if they crave a chicken wing it is because their body "needs" the protein. I have had many friends tell me that their bodies "like" to be 50 or 100lbs over weight. It just delusion....a strong delusion that leaves many people sick and miserable.

I have a little voice in my head that questions every diet I follow because of the addictive nature of my SAD food choices. Now I know that little voice is full of S#!T
Sarah thanks for sharing that.

I have one friend right in in particular, who is really obese. She is so convinced that she has to eat meat, and if she doesn't she gets "sick". I am careful with my discussions with her though because she tends to get over-emotional, so I'm not sure how to get the point across. She said she can't "handle" eating high amounts of carbs, and I've said yes processed carbs aren't meant for fuel, it's fruit we need, but she still can't get it.

She says she can't afford it but I often hear how they've had grilled chicken and steak on their Foreman Grill, so I can't imagine how one can afford those cuts of meat but not fresh produce. It's not like they are eating cheap ground beef. But, even she were to eat potatoes, corn, beans and rice instead of the meat it would still be a step up for her.
