Laguna niguel organges organges oranges!

anyone living near there, or in orange county somplace? because there is an abandoned orange orchard there that no one ever picks. amazingly delicious. My dad and my two brothers used to hike there and load up on backpacks and bags full of as many oranges we could pack in. It is probably a half mile walk from the road. its been growing without any help for 10+ years and now overgrown with 10ft high weeds. I dont live there anymore, but it might as well get some use...haha

Well I made it to the abandoned orchard yesterday... Enjoyed the trip for sure but didn't score much. I only filled about half a bag because the only oranges I found that seemed big enough were still pretty green and firm... Not knowing if they will ripen, I didn't want to take too many. So, will they ripen? If so, any ripening tips?

We opened one up at tasted it there, and it was perfectly ripe, although it still had some green on the top. Most likely the ones you got are all pretty ripe.

im sorry, i have not made any effort to try and figure out who the owner of this land is, but it is in the back of a valley where no one ever goes. It is near horse trails and ive never even seen any other person down there. I saw that same no tresspassing sign over 10 years ago, but still, the oranges fall to the ground every single year, or actually stay on the tree for the next comming year to be ridiculously sweet. im sorry, but i feel that it would be a total and complete waste to let these trees fall to nothing, while there has not been an owner in sight for years and years, and weeds continue to grow twice overhead.
it would be nice to figure out who's these are, so we can figure out the plans for the area, whether they be tearing the trees down, or producing a shopping mall, i dont know.
thanks for the concern. do you know any way to look up property and see who it belongs to?

actually im not sure if it really gets enough water to produce fruit properly.not all of the trees are even producing oranges, and the ones that are, there usually aren't tons. it used to be much more lively about 10 years ago. oranges were super abundant, where as now they have kind of lowered in quantity quite a bit. . they are probably a little water starved. but they have grown out quite bushy and weeds are very high, so it probably retains water extremely well. i imagine it gets a little more water also because of being in a big valley. there is no way that the owners still water it. haha

Nope Luke. I am not going to receive your scolding. Your passion makes sense, but in this case, there was no 'no trespassing' sign that I came across. Did you read the OP? "Abandoned" these trees appear to be. I wouldn't have gone if I thought I was thieving. Regardless, tell me who to pay the $2.00 I "owe", and I will pay up.
