Army on fruit? LOL! Troops would be too busy comparing fruit ripeness, 5k times and body fat % to worry about shooting another human in the face with a armour piercing bullet.

<---- Agree lol

US federal forces are not conducive to peace or your interests any at all. Military spending is greater than $1,000,000,000,000 per year and is consuming a ton of our resources that we have to pay back foreigners. With our current trend of spending, we'll get runaway to hyper inflation and the government will default--bailing you out of student debt by USD holders anyway. So don't look to the airforce to guarantee your education payments; they make it expensive with inflation and an absence of lending standards.

Look up non-aggression principle, libertarianism, Ron Paul. Don't live for federally guaranteed education or war, live for promoting a healthy lifestyle and the liberty of ALL earthlings!

Yeh, we got it, knock it off :)

I think you need a few more zeros on that figure ;)

hahaaa woops, fixed that

Just got to say.... i am proud of our military, it is possable to be vegan in the military i have seen it done. just wish more people would suport us, even it you don't like what they are doing.

thanks :D  i argree with you 100%

This thread has gone way off topic with some good rants. As a certified noob to 30BAD and this being my 2nd post I want to make it a good solid rant.

Its easy for people to bash on the military when they have done nothing in their lives to change it or make it better. The military is run by civilian oversight if people are not voting locally or supporting the right candidates then it can and will be abused. The US military is very slow to change. Things like the rescinded don't ask don't tell policy took years and some very dedicated individuals. Anything is possible with the right motivation and mindset. It doesn't take the majority to change policy in government and I think we have seen that first hand in the US.

In early 2003 they made it policy at one base I was at to always have a vegetarian entree option at the dining facility because of one single low ranking enlisted person who spoke up and contacted the right people. If you want to make changes to any organization you have to do it from the outside and within.

If you are upset with overspending then you have no one to blame but yourself for sitting on your hands for all these years while corporations continue to rule the government and profit from it. If you are not in the military then you have no excuse because you have the right to protest.

If you let the military be run by 100% paleo diet, uneducated bigots, then what do you expect when issues get up channeled to supervision? If you want to spread HCRV in the military then join up, make rank, create polices and regulations making it law. I can tell you right now physical fitness is a big issue and it has been used as a force reduction tool to kick people out. Perfect time to spread the word about a healthy lifestyle.

The military does do a lot of humanitarian work around the world. Special forces where some of the first people on the ground after the Haiti earthquake establishing COMs providing medical relief and setting up airports. Engineers where also their creating the landing zones for all humanitarian relief groups. The military also provided air traffic controllers for all humanitarian aircrafts. The military has always been there when SHTF and all humanitarian relief efforts rely on them for logistics. The military has global reach and can mobilize anywhere in the world faster than anyone. The military could be used for a lot of good if the right people where in office and if the right people are integrated throughout the ranks.

Its much easier to sit back and complain than to try and do anything to make the world country or military better. It is way easier and trendy to act like you care, talk about how much everything sucks, but never do anything about it.  We have whole generations of talkers not doers. For all of you that feel so righteous, when is the last time you went to a another country to help, lived in a 40 man tent, ate crap for breakfast lunch and dinner, worked 12+ hours a day, didn't get to talk to your loved ones for weeks at a time, built a school, built homes, roads, handed out clothes school supplies, provided medical relief for complete strangers.

Think about why things are the way they are. Do what DR has done speak up, aren't you tired of all the BS scammers and hucksters in office and in power?

Rant off!

I joined the Australian Army as an officer when I was young and naive, straight out of uni, thinking I could change things from the inside and work for peace. But I was very wrong...that is an institution that will never change...and I was lucky to get a medical discharge for a knee injury in my first year.

As for diet, I was vegan. And you could do low fat cooked vegan if you like a lot of rice and potato. But like I said, I was an officer and I know we got better treatment than the soldiers. And thankfully I never had to eat from a ration pack!

I'd get a job for a few years and save for your education rather than sell your life to the army, cos they will own you. You become there property when you enlist! Your rights become negligible.
