I've FINALLY been consistently eating LFRV for the last month, I'm feeling great and excersising more. According to Cronometer I've been averaging around 30 to 40 grams of protein. I'm wondering if that is enough or if I should be get more like 50 grams. In the past, when I underate and got really skinny, it caused my hair to thin out too and it hasn't ever really recovered, and that was 11 years ago! I know that hair is made of of protein, so I just want to make sure I'm getting enough. Also, if anyone has experienced thicker hair growth from eating lfrv, please share!!
Thanks friends!

Thanks Alison! I will focus more on calories and not protein. :) I didn't know that about mother's milk. Thanks for the info.
I'm glad your nails look better! Mine look ok, but they've always had a bunch of white spots in them. I'm hoping eventually they will go away.

hmmm, yeah I just recently went gluten fee. I'll give it some time and see what happens. :)

If this is the case, it should go away provided you eat enough greens - and don't eat too many of the dark greens (spinach, kale, etc) as these contain oxalates which can interfere with calcium absorption and do other things.
So you decide to build a brick house. You need a truckload of bricks every week. After a few months, you are done. But oh snap! You forgot to cancel the brick deliveries! What the heck are you supposed to do with this truckload that comes every week! You have a big problem. You aren't going to need this many now that the house is done. You will need a few once in a while to make repairs, and if you decide to add an addition you might need another half truckload once in a while, but geez this is a lot of bricks.
It is hard to get the protein myth out of your head but just do not worry about protein. My lady friend has been 811 for a little while now and she still puts hemp protein powder in her smoothie sometimes... even though she knows that it's acid-forming and makes it harder to eat as much smoothie, she still can't shake the feeling that she needs excess protein when she works out, which is simply not true. 2.5% is fine, 5% is fine... 10% is fine hence 80/10/10. I never get 10% and I've been gaining muscle slowly for the past two months. I'm sure your hair will heal itself given time.
Yes great analogy. Thanks for the advice and info!

Otherwise, just focus on getting enough calories + early nights so your body can get the proper nutrition.
#My neighbour was trying to tell me the other day that I 'dont get enough protein cos Im a vegan..' I said' well Ive got 10 000$ I can give you if you can keep up for me for 1 mile on the bicycle. You can ride my road bike and I will ride my mountain bike. I will even ride in jeans and sneakers and you can use clip in shoes...' He still didnt the point lol!
I rode 200km on Sunday. Passed a few hundred cyclists. After 183km I passed 2 cyclists going up the local mountain range. They tried to stick on my wheel and then we all stopped at the traffic light. They had only done 8km they said. When the hill really kicked I upped it to 5watts per kg and rode off into the horizon like I was on a motorbike. I only train about 7 hours a week too. Im protein deficient based on fat and out of shape status quo paradigms.
Thanks Durianrider...I will focus on calories more and less on protien, and let my performance and how I feel do the talking! Now if I could just get a job that allowed me to get to bed earlier!
