So I have been rv811 since november and i am getting some really intense stomach pains after eating!
at first it was only happening when i drank date-o-rade too quickly but now its happening after every fruit meal. i used to be able to drink down a liter mono smoothie in 10 minutes no problem but in the last month i cant even get down half a liter in half an hour with out rolling on the floor in pain for 20 minutes afterwords. not just smoothies but whole fruits as well.
it only seems to happen when i have large quantities of sweet fruit. never happens when i eat greens or non sweet fruit and i eat at least a pound of greens or zucchini every night.
i let my fruit ripen FULLY before i eat it
i only eat mono meals for breakfast lunch and dinner. the only time i combine is with salads and zuchinni
im having a hard time getting enough carbs because my stomach starts to hurt so badly when i eat more than a couple cups of sweets so ive started eating steamed yams with nothing on them at dinner time to try and squeeze in enough carbs :( i really dont like eating cooked but yams havent been giving me any troubles.
i might mention that im a life long vegan, have a history of extreme calorie restriction, have always struggled with hypoglycemia, and have ehlers danlos syndrome (a connective tissue disorder) so far its affecting every joint in my body, my skin, heart, and gives me migraines.
im really hoping this is just a detox symptom or a deficiency and nothing to do with my EDS. if my stomach wont accommodate mass amounts of whole ripe sweet fruit i might just wither away!!
is anyone else experiencing this? cant be poor food combining because i eat mono meals! doesnt happen as bad when i eat slowly, but really, i CANT spend the entire day eating continually to get enough calories >_/p>
and yes. i drink liters and liters of water every day :)
**UPDATE**
so i had my doctors appointment yesterday and heres what happened!
i said i would like to have a blood test done to check all my levels and she asked me why. i told her i had changed my diet and would like to see whats going on. apparently that is an inappropriate reason to get a blood test? (she knew i was already vegan) so i braced myself to tell her about my new eating habits to give her a "good reason" for a blood test. i KNEW she would insist upon one if she she knew i was only eating raw fruits and vegetables.
this is what i "learnt" bear with me fellow hcrv's ;)
*i am deffinately severely anemic and the only reason i have energy is because i eat TOO MUCH SUGAR
*i am on the path to type 2 diabetes if I'm not already there (which is funny because Im hypoglycaemic. my body just can't get enough sugar ;)
*i probably have a stomach infection which is the cause of my stomach pains. because i eat too much. (i did a breath test for that btw ill post my results when i get them)
*doing my own research IS VERY UNHEALTHY and i have to stop. the only way i will know anything is to go to medical school.
*i need to eat a balanced diet that includes all the food groups
THANK YOU DOC FOR ENLIGHTENING ME.
oh ps this is the doctor that tried to tell me i was schizophrenic and i should be talking medication. i think its time for a new doctor :)

Maddi do you get any stomach pains?
Permalink Reply by Maddi DW on April 13, 2012 at 11:49am Mine have been really reduced since I started supplementing. Check this out! http://health101.org/art_melon-belly
Permalink Reply by Mountain Bike Mike on April 13, 2012 at 12:33pm Yep, chromium worked for me too. Took about three weeks for it to kick in. Can't wait for watermelon season to really test this theory :)
Permalink Reply by Yogaranka on April 13, 2012 at 1:14pm Did you follow a protocol with the chromium? What I mean, to start taking one a day, for a few weeks before you tried the sweet melons, when it worked for you?
Permalink Reply by Maddi DW on April 13, 2012 at 11:52am I would literately go into a coma like state, be unable to breath, and have intense stomach and chest pains. This usually lasted about an hour and then I would pass out from exhaustion. The pain was so bad that it would make me cry, it was brutal!

Don Bennett is amazing<3
Permalink Reply by Bee on April 13, 2012 at 12:24pm i also noticed while reading this that don quotes the caution on chromium
"If you are pregnant, nursing, diabetic, hypoglycemic, taking medication or planning a surgery, consult your doctor before using this product. Do not use if you have gastric or duodenal ulcers. If any adverse reactions occur, stop taking the product and consult your doctor."
i am a very sensitive hypoglycemic so i will ask my doctor about this and let you guys know what she says!
Permalink Reply by Stephanie McClennon on April 14, 2012 at 4:23am well you're not digesting, absorbing and utilizing your foods, clearly. not your fault, just probably genetic weaknesses being turned on by cooked food and bad habits. definitely not something a doctor can fix with a little white pill. try to eat more berries and melons, and make sure you're in the right mental state before you eat. if you're stressed out or feeling generally negative or worried, DON'T EAT. your mind will be too preoccupied with worry or stress or whatever else to digest the food, so it will just sit there and not digest. 1000 calories of undigested fruit has a lot less value than 500 calories of properly digested, eaten-with-love fruit. super chew your food, as digestion starts in the mouth. make sure every bite you swallow is coated in saliva and has been turned into a liquid. i know, it's hard to eat enough in a short period of time, but you can always eat more calorie rich foods before or after work. you probably don't sleep at work, and even if you did, you probably aren't forced to work from the second you wake up to the second you sleep. make sure you're getting enough sleep and sunshine, too.
fruits will heal you, but they take a lot longer by themselves than fruits and herbs taken together. if i remember correctly, hypoglycemia has to do with your adrenals not utilizing sugars. it's either your adrenals or your pancreas, but if you're having digestive issues, it would be a good idea to work on both of them. i would recommend the endocrine gland, liver/gallbladder, kidney&bladder I, adrenals, pancreas and stomach&bowels herbal formulas from god's herbs if you could get your hands on them. if not, lots of berries and melons, and whatever herbs you can forage (do your research first obviously) or find in your grocery store/fruit market. your eds is just your parathyroid not utilizing calcium to repair connective tissues, so you could work on your parathyroid as well with loads of berries.
i found it really hard to get enough calories until i started eating dates as my main source. they're delish, don't get squished up as easily as nanners, and don't take up too much space in my tummy :)
Permalink Reply by Bee on April 15, 2012 at 2:49am thank you thank you! great information :)
i will definitely work on slowing down my food and sleep (its so hard to turn the computer off early!)
i don't eat any berries or herbs now so ill try adding them into my diet and see what happens.
yahoo for dan the man ;)
and cloudyknight datorade is torture on this! i find it worse than melons. i think its because its basically drinking pure sugar. hurts so bad is but soooooo good. I'm on chromium picolinate now so i will test out datorade if chromium deficiency is the problem :)
