30 Bananas a Day!

Cause I've been eating MASSSS amounts of oranges over the past 2 weeks and heard that if the # on the sticker starts with a 3 it's a GMO...I hope this is not true!

If it is GMO what are the consequences for eating so many?

No. Numbers beginning with 3 and 4 are conventionally grown. Starting with 9 = organic, 8 = GMO.
it won't be that bad. you ever seen the movie x-men? you'll probably get some minor super-power like suckers on your hands and feet to allow you to climb walls and such ;D

as far as I know the PLU code for GMOs starts with 8, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
PHEW is right, thank god. (the fruitarian god!)

Bah, I'm growing old of the conventional ways, i need to find an organic bulk warehouse!
haha I hear you!

Err I hate to be the one to tell you its my understanding that produce codes that begin with a 3 have been irradiated. :( which is so aggravating! A lot of papayas have a produce code starting with 3 too! and nearly all the oranges...and I noticed some apples are starting to as well! Irradiation better not spread to all fruits and vegetables in time! It really makes me want to just grow all my own food! Too bad we can't go live next to a nice tropical wild "orchard".
Also I noticed some organic oranges are start with a 9 followed by a 3. I wonder if they have been irradiated too!
No, the 3 has nothing to do with irradiation. Irradiated food is not labeled though the PLU code. Organic products have the same code as conventionally grown - they just add a 9 on the front. Eg: banana 4011, organic banana 94011
ohh that's good! are you positive though? Because I have read the thing about the 3 meaning irradiation from a few different sources. but it was just from a google search a while ago.
i am under the impression that fruits are not yet genetically modified, at least in the us?

i thought the biggest gm foods are: sugar beets, soy, and corn. anyone know more (for sure) and can inform?
