30 Bananas a Day!

hehehe had ya there didn't I.... !?!

Sorry subject is not quite as dramatic as the title suggests!....

Over the past few years I have had plenty of women ask me about menstruation and whether I have it or not, whether its natural to get a 'period' every month & so on....
I thought I would start a convo here so we could all share our current experiences with the monthly madness....

When I first went raw I lost mine for 1year, I caved to cooked food for a month & it came back?!....Interesting when waste (cooked food)entered, my period (or waste removal?)started...

But then fastforward a year or so and now I get it every couple of months very lightly & 2-3days max....very randomly and it seems to be when my body is under some type of stress or I've had too much fat in the form of avos.....

I spoke to Rozi in Sydney one on one a year ago about this and she really isn't sure, no one seems to be clued up on it.....I've heard that animals in the wild don't get their 'monthlies' , only domesticated ones....

I eat a healthier diet than ever now & feel ontop of the moon health-wise and they seem to be leaving me again.....
I don't have abnormally low levels of bodyfat or anything like that so this isn't a factor....

Interested to hear others experiences....

this is all very stange and new to me. i wonder what the effects on fertilaty are?
i read the article that said that there werent any, and many women without menstration can have healthy babies. forgive me for being ignorant ... but i thought periods were ment to be a sign of health thing. i did suffer fron heavier, irregular periods i also feel very good on the 811 diet but i dont want to challenge my fertility
i sent this email to dr doug today, and this was his reply

Loss of menstruation does not imply loss of ovulation. Two separate issues, Cindy.
It is easy to check if you are ovulating, but don't count on loss of menstruation, either. Many women do not experience this.

HI Dr. Doug,
I am reading your book and implimenting the 811 lifestyle and i have been feeling really good. the only concern that i have though, is a few women in my online 811 community talking about how they are loosing their menstruation. is this normal? does it affect fertility?
many thanks
cindy
i actually asked free about this not too long ago, cause i had lost mine for almost 6 or 7 months then i started coming back as i began eating more fats, etc.
but i do think that a high fruit diet may cause some females to not bleed, without losing their ability to ovulate.
i'm so glad this was brought up cause for like almost a year i was feeling a little worried. but i also had a vegan friend tell me that hers came very sporadically once she went more raw and the doc told her this happens and not to worry (after having her tested for problems).
well this would certainly bring it back! and then they would have been "right"?!
my 4th babe turned 1 yesterday and still no period. after previous 3 babes it returned after about 7-10 mths. i'm breastfeeding less now than i was with them. and my diet is 80% raw now. before i was blessed with children(8 yrs ago) my diet was high in fruit and veg, i also ate small amounts of meat and fish and my period was a definate 28 day cycle. i'm thinking about weaning bodhi soon and wander if p will return. another side to consider....we have decided 'no more babes'... cld there be a mind-body link...
is that why they haven't resumed???

lol, I know this is super old, but I didn't get my period back until my son was 3. I wasn't raw or anything. I was mostly vegan though (occasionally ate ice cream or lasagna or pizza). I think (with a lack of extra hormones from meat and dairy) that it has more to do with the frequency of nursing. When my period came back it was totally regular (and sooo annoying-I hope it goes away again being raw-after 3 weeks on raw, this period seems much lighter so far), I've always been regular, never skipped a period.

DR. G. and his wife had no problem having a child and they are older.
Yes please chart and let us know what happens. I am so curious for someone with no periods to chart and tell us what the chart looks like. Ex: do you still have a cycle but with no periods? How long is the cycle and where does ovulation fall?
:)
Ummm.. there are some ways to tell about ovulation w/out taking period into account at all. :) Mucous will tell you straightaway whether fertility is occurring, thankfully! If the lubricating mucous can be stretched between thumb and forefinger, then your body is in sticky baby making mode (approx one day per month). If the mucous quickly breaks seperate, then you are in tacky non fertile time!! Every girl has the right to know what is up w her own fertility!! No charts or pills needed! Also, if you still have a pretty heavy period, get Instead Cups instead of tampons. They rock and you can be more active and no pesticide soaked cotton up against your mucous membranes!! I think it is awesome that people are reducing their menses here! Extra energy and mojo we can use to be procreative in the world at large :)
OH, but make sure you pee and wash, you could get some male sea foam that hung around in the corners ;) and gotcha fertilized a day later, so definitely keep close attention :)!! I just think that we should have healthy alternatives to condoms if we are with a devoted and conscientious partner yay !!

Mine actually went almost immediately after I gave up meat & went high fat raw (which was basically at the same time).

My mum has a fibroid too, same area i believe, you may want to chat to her 'into raw'....u can search members...her name is Lindy. The Doc recommended a Hysterectomy, i would avoid having any part of yourself removed as much as possible.....as you know Docs like to treat the symptom not the cause....."lets just cut it out!"

I always had blood clots in my period pre-raw & the blood always looked old....not nice, now its fresh red colour, no clotting.
