30 Bananas a Day!

So I'm having a major binge-out on cooked food today. One slip up a couple of weeks ago and I cant seem to get back on track! I dont know why I keep doing that. I feel like if I were to just have one cooked meal and stop then maybe thats OK but I just seem to go for everything that I like that is cooked. I havent had anything "unhealthy" (I guess it depends on your standards). I had some avocado, temphe, lentil soup, quinoa, basmati rice, brown rice pasta with homemade marinara sauce, edamame. Just wanna stay home and eat. I had planned to do a 30 day raw commitment like many of you suggested but couldnt even get through 3 days. I started feeling really nauseous at the thought of raw food and was only able to handle oranges. I dont know why that happened! I got really depressed too and was obviously not getting enough cals. Everyone has been so supportive here and I feel embarrassed that I keep failing and posting about  it but I cannot shake the feeling that this is what I need to do so I just need advice I guess. What have your methods been for sticking this out longer?

Uping the water, great, certainly will help.

Broccoli is not so good, I would skip it:

Cruciferous Vegetables Broccoli
Cauliflower
Cabbage
Brussels sprouts
Kale
Bok choy (greens)
Collard greens
Spinach
All are disqualified as optimal or even appropriate due to high cellulose content. Our bodies have limited ability to access the nutrients encased in the cellulose structure, so most of what we eat of them must only be eliminated from the body, which unnecessarily taxes our eliminative processes. These vegetables also contain irritating and indigestible oxalic acid and are bland or unpleasant to eat in their raw state. The exception in this category is young or baby spinach, which has what most people describe as a pleasant flavor and is relatively easy to digest in moderate quantities since its oxalic acid content is low at this point in its growth.

Stuffing yourself won't go well on your digestion, eat til full and then one or two bites more.  The way to get in enough calories in the beginning is to stick with high calorie fruits and to skip the greens, it will only take a few weeks for your stomach to stretch until you can add in the low cal greens and fruits again.  This is one reason why banana island is beneficial when starting out.  Dr. Doug often prescribes banana island when people consult with him.

I am having the same problem... I have been transitioning off the SAD diet for a little over a month. I know that when you start detoxing you may (like I am) and most likely will have some depression and mood swings. Do to the build up crap emptying into your blood stream making your insides cleaner but it can be a bit of a rocky road for a while. I am down to three meals super healthy (banana and celery-apple juice smoothies) then one junky meal. Tomorrow I start all bananas, apples, celery, bell peppers, lettuce and carrots yippy. Mainly because that junky meal sucks! I feel like crap after them and I have a bunch of bananas I do not want going to waste lol. Just dont beat yourself up. It is hard going against whatever way used to be your "normal way" of eating. I suggest setting goals. Goals have gotten me this far. I am setting a goal for three days of healthy eating than one crappy meal if I want it. I am hoping I don't. I crave crap I stop and think about how that food really makes me feel and then I eat a few bananas and I feel like I can really do this lol. Hopefully this helps you I am new to this too but I will succseed... I just keep telling myself that.

Hey Rebecca, thank you so much for your reply! Very helpful! I love the idea of goal setting. I started out with a goad of 30 days 100%. Thats too big of a goal I think. Right now I have decided to do breakfast and lunch fruity and dinner to have cooked veg's that I really enjoy. I get these amazing Japanese Sweet Potatoes that taste like candy and I love cooked corn on the cob so for dinner I'm having 2 sweet potatoes, an ear of cooked corn on the cob and a big salad. I feel much better about that today. It makes it more manageable for me. Of course I'd rather be 100% but it just seems so difficult! I think its a mind thing. I have kind of gone over it in my head and cooked vegetables like potatoes, corn and squashes seem ok for now. I like the way they taste and they are dense so they give me the full feeling that cooked food does. My second choice is brown rice but I am trying to stay away from that as much as I can help it.

Hi Viktoriya. Just a friendly reminder:

http://www.30bananasaday.com/forum/topics/debunking-the-concept-of-...

Keep your head up and your eyes focused ahead. Just like when one is hiking, one must alternate between looking at where they're placing their next step and where the trail is headed. Treat each day like a step and give it its required attention, but... remember to remember the long term goal ;). If you trip, regroup and take the next step.

Also... remove that word "fail" from your dictionary. Just tear the whole page out! Sure you'll also lose words like "faint" and "faith" too, but sacrifices must be made! ;P

Thank you for the reminder Jon. Its so easy to forget. I know that I havent failed. It just gets so frustrating sometimes because of how bad I feel when I eat cooked!

Shift your focus Vik.

You're still eating extremely health and slimming foods. If you feel better eating fruit, EAT FRUIT! lol!

Its that simple. If you don't want to eat starch, eat enough fruit cals.

I feel you're making things bigger in your head than they really need to be. I feel you're looking for distractions. Bit like the person at yoga talking about the pose vs just doing the pose and getting on with it.

Have enough of your fav fruit cals on hand. Have your back up foods. Keep on moving forward. Relax. Easy.

DR, thank you for this wonderful advice! So simple, so true! Man I wish I could remember that at all times lol! such wisdom!

I'm in the same boat as you...sort of comforting. I think I'll be going on a juice fast again and go from there.

✿ Your greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall. ✿

Get up, dear. Just get back up. Let it go. Breathe. Smile. Take one step forward.

:)

❤ ❤ ❤ Sending loving vibrations your way ❤ ❤ ❤

I'm not a 100percent either... on a good day, I'll only have raw fruits, but have a cooked dinner. Now, staying home just to eat all day sounds kinda off... like some part of you is rebelling against your own intentions?

It's funny about the nauseous at the idea thing- I have that about several foods, bananas included- but the reality of eating them is SO MUCH BETTER than the imagining them. Imagining them, they're bland and cloying and thick- but they're so tasty in actuality! Maybe instead of diving into a 30 day raw commitment, you can take a few days and have a great re-sampling of many different types of fruits and vegetables, to re-educate your taste buds over what you think you like, and what you actually like?

Next time you shop, buy one ever *everything* that you can, especially the fruits that don't appeal to you. And try them out, so that you can say "Ah, you know what? Bananas DO sicken me. But I love dragon fruit." Or "You know, I should be eating oranges, but these loquat are just singing for me!"

Your picture looks like you are not overweight- how much is binging for you? Your body may be comfortable on the diet you have now; and perhaps you aren't mentally ready to dive in, and your nausea is a defense-mechanism. Let's not make this so dire, dear one, start small, try some new fruit, and reacquaint yourself with some old. You don't have to get married on your first date.

(Get it? I added a pun.)

I find first 3day-10days the worth...then it is ok............. it is more than just a food, food is just a food...shift your focus on goals you want and make food only your energy and do your best for the body, not doing focus on food and 100%perse;)...but 100%is easier than 90% I can tell you for sure that. GL bzzzzzzzzzz, fruitfly.

i did a lot of EFT (=Emotional Freedom Technique)

you can btw try it on everything
