30 Bananas a Day!

I drank 54 oz of fresh squeezed OJ for breakfast and it felt like someone lit a bonfire in my gut

I pressed out 64 oz of OJ this morning but couldn't get down but 54 oz.  Anyways after I got it all down about 15 minutes later it felt like someone lit a fire in my stomach.  It took about 30 minutes for it to subside.  I am assuming I had some unripe oranges in the mix??  By the way how can you tell when a orange is ripe enough?

try drinking water beforehand. DR recommends 1 liter in the morning before your first meal. i've found a meager 12 ounces works for me to avoid stomach ache. also, if this is the first time you've juiced that much, you may need to work your way up instead of attempting to chug half a gallon lol.

thanks yea that is probably a good idea lol

Am i missing something here?  1.5 litres of OJ?

If you drink 1.5 litres of coke you would expect the same thing.

Why not eat whole fruits?

well I took that from Freelee's recommended recipes and noted she often drinks fresh squeezed OJ with the pulp in it.  She drinks 2 liters at a setting so I was trying get close to that.

I dont know why she would recommend that.

As far as i know 811 does not advocate juicing.   Adding the fibre in is not the same as the juice being locked up by the fibre.  (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Most people's stomachs arent even big enough to hold that much anyway.  I know mine isn't.  I would vomit if i drank that much of anything that acidic.

Doug Graham has often mentioned that he drinks o.j. with the pulp stirred in, and that this can be part of a healthy 811lifestyle. He also talks about sometimes just sucking the juice out of the oranges.

sucking juice out of oranges is hard work in comparison and slows rate of consumption

we are simply not designed/evolved to eat fruit juice.  We are designed to eat fruit.  if its hurting -its hurting for a reason

Dude, you just said 811 does not advocate juicing. Then I pointed out that Graham says o.j. with the pulp is A-okay. Then you said sucking juice out of oranges is hard work, which is irrelevant to your claim that o.j. is not okay. You're kind of moving the goalposts here.

I'm not making claims - I'm a newbie to this lifestyle.  If I make a statement about something like sucking oranges then its going to be an obvious one or a biochemistry one.  Isn't that common sense that it takes longer to suck out of an orange than chug?

On another post i had asked about juicing and someone told me it was not advocated.  I took that as true.  When you responded here I then looked through the recipe section of the book and noticed alot of 16oz recipes.

Also, Just because he says something, doesn't mean he's right. I'm just trying to figure out some principles because I don't fully understand how this diet works and whether it would be suited to me.  I used to drink orange juice so I would enjoy this but it seems anathema to the principles of raw food.  Processed carbs are not good seems to be the message and personally i would regard OJ as processed just as dried fruits are or table sugar.  They are all natural but not what i would call raw.

Table sugar has the water and often other nutrients taken out and it is cooked.  Dried food has the water taken out and often much of the nutrients are lost and much of it is even dehydrated at temperatures that will cook it.  Juicing oranges, you still have the water and fresh nutrients and the pulp.  The pulp slows down absorption of the sugars so it doesn't matter so much how fast you drink it.

As far as I understand it, oranges are one of the few fruits that are acceptable to juice. Also, I may be wrong but I believe this may be mentioned in 811.

in 811 he does juice oranges.

But in the recipes section the maximum is 16oz in a meal.
