Hi everyone!! It is my 2nd week and I have been a little worried because I am seriously freezing all the time. My hands and feet are like icicles. Granted it is winter, but I am in Texas, (today the high is going to be 74) so it shouldn't be this extreme. I have always disliked the cold, but now it is uncomfortable. I just can't seem to warm up unless I take a hot shower or work out, but then 30 minutes later I start to get cold again. Is this normal?
I have that problem, but mine is due to hypothyroid.
I get about 2000-2700 calories per day. I commute on my bike and do bikram yoga 6 days per week. On average 2-3 hours of exercise per day.
No, I haven't seen that video. Where is it at?
I would say a lot more calories!
Are you eating enough calories? When I am cold, it is usually because I was restricting my daily intake. I am on day two of HCLF raw vegan and not once I have been cold. I eat all day :) I also down a few pounds, Ah-mazing!
I guess maybe I am not eating enough calories. I was restricting but have been trying to get up to 3000 and it takes a lot of eating! Well I guess I will just eat more and see if that helps. I am going to try to get out and soak up some sun today too! :)
Between Biking and the yoga, you might need upwards of 4,000 or more calories a day. Calories of course provide energy, the carbs will keep you warm, but your tissues also need vitamins and minerals for repairs and rebuilding after exercise.
When people are on their death beds, and not longer able to eat and or assimilate nutrients, their bodies will start to shut down from the extremities towards the trunk, and will try to preserve energy for the vital organs like the heart. One of the symptoms? The feet and hands feel cold, not only to the individual, but to those that touch them.
As long as you are eating mostly overt fat free, and eating 100% of whole raw fresh fruit and leafy greens, do not worry about calorie restriction and or gaining weight, especially with that amount of exercise.
+1 on the 4k cals, you're seriously active
Same here, doesnt matter how much i eat i am freezing like crazy. And its not calories i promise you that since i have the same problem. Maybe thyroid or sodium related. So maybe adding iodine and more sodium from celery?
I have been a little concerned about sodium since I sweat so much in Bikram. I have been trying to incorporate more celery, but after 4 stalks I just can't eat anymore. I might try it in a smoothie. I haven't done that yet.
I used to do the same workouts and I felt really good. It is most likely because of calories. Bikram yoga burns a tons of calories and I feel like your body still burns a lot even when you aren't in the hot room!
