I'm considering going on Orange Island, which would be my first island trip!
Anyway I've noticed in a few posts that peeps strongly warn against eating underripe oranges, or oranges that have not been picked ripe. This will be especially important for me to know since I have major tooth enamel damage already.
So my question is, how do you know if an orange has been picked ripe or not? And if it hasn't been picked ripe, can you let it ripen from that point?
I like oranges that are a bit squishy, or have a slightly thinner looking skin - they tend to be sweeter and darker orange. That's ripe, right?

Permalink Reply by RawPeruana on June 30, 2011 at 8:21am I read somewhere if the orange still has the stem intact..it has been picked too early.
The skin is supposed to be soft...and come off very easily when you peel it.
