30 Bananas a Day!

So I know eating slowly is ideal (and even doing that I still get bad stomach pain after meals...right now with mono grapes and mono melon).  I'm finding it hard to fit the time of eating in (especially if I'm trying to go slow).

This is especially true with dinner where I do a mono fruit meal, then a large salad with tomatoes and cucumber....chewing all the greens takes forever...I know blending is an option, but don't know if it's ideal..

I know bananas and dates are used to help with this issue, but I don't do very well with either.

Any advice would be great!  Thanks all :)

Grapes used to always give me stomach pains, but then I started eating organic and the pain went away. They're usually pretty expensive so I don't eat them too often.

I am eating organic...that's what's strange.  and i'm eating slowly and chewing.  I've gotten it with melon too, which I never did before.

I've done a number on my digestive system in the past but it seems many people have this happen?

Try a little lime juice on top of the grapes or watermelon. It really works. Or perhaps a few pieces of lettuce or celery with the meal. For some reason those combos used to help me when I had stomach pain eating those fruits. If your getting stomach pain then perhaps eat less of the problematic fruits at one sitting. Listen to your body.
Thanks Nate, I'll try that :)
Put dates and bananas in a blender (2 dates per 1 banana). If you can't eat this plain because you do not like it, throw in 1 lbs of strawberries or a couple of peaches. This will help you get more calories in quicker. You might also try grazing through out the day instead of a couple of big meals.

Sounds like this lifestyle is too hard for you champ if you wont MAKE time vs sitting on your ass and waiting for time to come to you. ;)

If you cant find a way, MAKE a way.

Thatz all I gotta say. :)

True, DR.  I've definitely fought much harder battles in my recovery than how to find time to eat :)  The ironic thing about me asking this question is that up until June14th, 2010, I was actively and aggressively bulimic, putting up to 400lbs of food in and out of my body...I sure made time for that!

I guess part of it is maybe that it feels like I'm over-prioritizing food again (which I used to do maladaptively), but now is actually FOR my health.

Watching your videos and reading your posts it seems like you and Freelee are always on the move and I get ancy sitting in one place for so long...do you guys chill out and eat?

Also, I'm dangerously perfectionistic and self-critical so I don't want to fall into the trap of "making" or "forcing" myself to do things then brow-beating myself for failure...that makes the whole thing more of a task or a chore than something I'm doing lovingly for my body. (I'm sure your not endorsing force or self-chastisement, that's just where my brain goes, ie: word harder, push more, it's never good enough, etc, to the point of ill health)

If you can't do dates or bananas, try mangoes.  Also, give yourself time to be able to handle dates and bananas, do a little more every few days or every week.

As for blending, yes it is ideal.  You need calories and blending helps you to get a lot in quickly.  As for melons, it might take you a long time to eat melon, compared to the quantity of calories you're getting and you might need to drink more water to help with that melon.  I remember having issues with melons when I first started.  As for grapes, I never eat enough for a meal, grapes are snacks for me, or I add them to other things, such as soups... the reason is to me grapes are too difficult to chew properly, the skins don't get chewed properly and it makes me feel bad...it is not worth it for me to eat a lot of grapes in one sitting.   I only eat them if I'm in the mood for leisurely eating, like eating popcorn in front of the TV...lol.

Watermelon is also said to digest best on its own.  So if you're eating it closely before or after another food it could be causing problems in your belly for that reason.  Eat a lot of melon when you eat it.

thanks :)  I'm doing melon by itself.  I order my fruit in bulk by the week so it's a bit hard to coordinate with "ripeness" as I don't see it before it comes...and when I've ordered mango, they've not been ripe...I need to work out a better system..
